  1. Just heard back from GWU about the second round of funding today (!) , and the department said they're going through the steps with new acceptances too! Good luck everyone!
  2. They'll be sending out additional acceptances and financial aid starting on April 15th. I called the department a few weeks back

  4. Hey all, I decided to commit to the acceptance at GWU, but I was wondering if anyone has heard anything back yet about financial aid, assistantships, etc. I will be declining positions at University of Colorado--Boulder and University of Wisconsin--Madison, so I hope that helps one of you out!!
  5. I heard back from GWU on the 2nd. Have you checked your portal? They are usually pretty quick with responses from what I hear.
  6. I was that first UNC-Chapel Hill post, so I promise it wasn't fake I just applied super early. I did get waitlisted, but I wasn't super set on that school. Two acceptances and one wait list down, four more to go!
  7. Thank you @SLPgradstudent! I'm still trying to rank my choices, haha. I am a chronic worrier, so I was just happy to get any acceptance letter. University of Washington is my dream school, but GWU suits me really well, especially because I want to work with wounded veterans and do a thesis involving PTSD and TBI. I definitely believe you will get into GWU. Your credentials are good, so have hope! What other schools did you apply to? I started in Jan 2014 too! So I am sure we had a few classes together. I wasn't very social on there until my last semester.
  8. Hey! I submitted my application in early October, but had to resend my transcripts the last week of December because one of the files wasn't opening for them. I received an email on 2/2 saying that "A decision on your application to the Speech-Language Pathology graduate program has been made." When I logged into my account, I was lucky enough to find an acceptance letter Good luck! I hope you hear back soon!
  9. I'm actually a caregiver for a man with ALS. I think that experience in home care can be a definite plus if you are looking to treat adults or work in a healthcare setting during your career. It can also make for a stronger resume if the patient(s) that you take care of have specific speech/language deficits. For instance, I spend a large portion of my time at work helping my patient communicate (texting, emails, face-to-face conversations, etc.) When I apply to grad school, I will be placing a large emphasis on this experience. I took the job to determine wether or not I could mentally handle the late-onset disorder population. I definitely don't regret it, and I absolutely love my job. That being said: make sure it is something that you actually want to do--not just something that you want on paper. It is a very hard job, and it can get to you mentally & physically. If you are not super excited for it & aren't getting a fair wage, then it really isn't worth it.
  10. Thank you so much MangoSmoothie. That was exactly the sort of information I needed. I think it would definitely be long shot, but now I have better information to approach it with. Also, I hope you get to go on vacation there! I spent a month in Glasgow, Edinburg, and the Highlands. My soul felt completely at home.
  11. Hey all, I just finished my 2nd Bachelors today from USU, and I wanted to get started on researching potential universities to apply next fall. My first degree was in Neuroscience from Agnes Scott College in Decatur, GA. I am scheduled to take the GRE next month, and I will be applying to 7 schools in Fall 2016: George Washington University San Diego State University University of Washington University of Colorado--Boulder UNC--Chapel Hill Vanderbilt Queen Margaret University (Edinburg, Scotland) (And maybe USU as a safety school, because I kept a 4.0 and they have sent me a "formal invitation" to apply to their graduate program.) I am super excited to start the process, but I was wondering if anyone on here has applied to the program at Queen Margaret. Going to grad school in Scotland has been my pipe dream for the last 4 years, so I could really use some words of wisdom! Thank you!
