  1. Update on IHPST: emailed and the response was: "you should hear within a week or ten days". Idk if that means for acceptances or rejections.
  2. Are we all assuming Toronto is a no if we haven't heard yet?
  3. Question all: if im interviewing for normal job at same dpt I'm considering offer from, do I tell the interviewer?
  4. also lol can I just point out there aren't any acceptances on the board today.....unless someone here got in?
  5. broken record but: any NYU news...? I know prospective students day was this weekend.
  6. Does anyone know what the typical funding is that I can expect from a PhD program in Public health?
  7. @Logik LOL I chuckled at that tweet. All admissions committees should live tweet their timeline.
  8. MAPSS, and the New School for Social Research (NSSR usually gives some merit scholarship).
  9. Question: what if you wouldn't be going into debt/taking out loans? Perhaps due to prior savings or where you are financially? This is what I'm struggling with.
  10. Hi, I'm in a pretty common situation. Accepted but haven't heard about funding and was just informed that (contrary to the school's handbook) not all people are admitted with funding. This is my top top top choice, one of the best in the field, and I'd be devastated if they didn't give me funding, because it would feel like a rejection. This is all they've told me: -occasionally students are admitted unfunded, but the department tries to "make funding package" however they can after acceptance -BUT they really want me so I should tell them my other offers so they can match/beat them (I haven't gotten any others offers though so this is a problem) I'm speaking with the department chair this week. I'm a normally super unassertive person, so any tips on how to phrase my needing to be funded (though I don't have the leverage of another offer)? From what they've said, does it seem like they're not going to fund me or are they just working stuff out?
  11. Toronto IHPST has one on the board...anyone claiming?
  12. When I say dream job, I mean "dream entry level job". There are zero advancment oppurtunities and everyone goes to grad school after. I got into probably one of the top programs in the country for my field so its tough. But, I could always ask the job if they'd be open to me working part time.
  13. @nevermind Same situation for me, I'm terrified they won't be able to find funding or something like that.
  14. Pretty much the title. Are there any fellowships that are still open? I know most deadlines have very much passed. If it helps, I'm in medical anthropology.
  15. @confusedgradapplicant130 I think I have a good idea, perhaps unconventional and circular: A History/Philosophy of Science program. I've seen people do stuff on epistemology and history of the social sciences, and this would fit right in. Also, anthropology is heavy on theory sometimes, and looks at things like "historical memory", so there could be something there.
  16. Yeah congrats to everyone! I'm still waiting on some schools, but I honestly don't think I'd pick any of them over the one I currently am accepted to, except for maybe one or two. On another note, I have a job interview for a job that's kinda a dream job and pays well on Tuesday (it's ironically in the same department as where I got accepted). Do I take the interiew? Cancel it? Consider the job over a PhD? Input pls.
  17. This is literally one of the best feelings I've ever had (I got into a top choice after being rejected by four other programs). Thanks to everyone for being supportive and amazing!
  18. Two things: 1. Is it normal to get just an official email of acceptance but no call? I know someone else posted a call for one of my programs but I just got an acceptance. 2. Whoever got into Sociomedical Sciences, History....hit me up!
  19. I just got a general email from the university of acceptance, no personalized emails or anything. Is this normal? I wanted to be called!
  20. yay toronto hps taking internationals! maybe they're talking about me hehe. a girl can dream....
  21. @raaawr It's basically who you mention in your SOP. Those get read VERY carefull I've noticed, so do not, by any means, ever, casually throw someone in. And @Neist I usually don't, but the cases I'm talking about are large amount of interviews/acceptances sent out at the same time and confirmed by current students!
  22. @raaawr Well this POI was someone I had met with a few months ago to discuss current research I'm doing. This university is in my city, so it was easy to set something up, he encouraged me to apply to their program, and voila. And yeah two programs people have been interviewed at least and one interviewed and accepted and I just keep getting told "we're still making decisions"
