I am in the process of starting to apply to grad school but I am stuck. I have a list of schools that look at the last 60 units but I would also like to look at schools that are "less competitive" that do not look at the last 60 units. Has anyone done this? Any suggestions on schools to apply to? I would really appreciate some advice especially from others who have been in my position. My undergrad GPA was 2.5 and my post bacc GPA so far is 3.54. I plan on taking the GRE again. Thank you.

@Need Coffee in an IVI would also like to more about Radford. My primary question is do they look at the overall GPA or just the last 60 units. Thank you

Which Massachusetts university will start a new program next fall? Does the program start fall 2017?

Hi everyone It would be helpful if anyone has suggestions on additional schools I could look into or schools from my MAYBE list that you think I should apply to. If anyone is curious my undergrad GPA was 2.5 and my current GPA is 3.6 in Comm. Disorders courses. I am taking my GRE next month. I have compiled a preliminary list of schools that consider the last 60 units and I feel I have a chance of getting into. what is a professional way to explain my irresponsibility during my undergrad years that led to my low GPA? I would like to explain that in my letter of intent but I am having writers block. Any suggestions or examples of what you might have said in your letter of intent? Thank you

I am in the process of typing a list of strengths that I possess for a professor who was kind enough to write a recommendation letter. She would like a list of my strengths. This is what I have so far 1) Good time management 2) Strong interpersonal and intrapersonal communication skills 3) Experience in problem solving 4) Awareness and competence in working with culturally and linguistically diverse client populations 5) Excellent analytical and reasoning skills 6) Empathy for populations with communication disorders and speech delays 7) Organized and detail oriented Are these appropriate as strengths for a recommendation letter for a Speech Language Pathology grad school? Are they any I should delete or add?

I do not think you should ever give up. Try to apply to as many schools are possible when you apply. Take a GRE prep course if you can afford one. I agree with @mcamp if possible try becoming a SLPA for a year and then apply. When you apply do not apply look at the stats for school generally CA, OR, WA, NY and FL schools those are hard to get into unless it is a new program. I know Cal Baptist in Riverside, CA has a new program. Volunteer with a SLP at a clinic or hospital or a school, join NSSHLA or a club for Comm Disorders majors at your school and try to as many activities related to the major. Its the summer time its the best time to get involved.

I am the process of compiling a list of schools I would like to apply to this coming fall for the masters' program in communicative disorders. I have already completed my bachelor's degree and am currently pursuing my post bacclaurate in Communicative Disorders. My undergrad GPA was 2.5 and my current GPA is 3.6 in Comm. Disorders courses. I would like to know if anyone has a list compiled of schools or have a suggestion of schools that consider the less than 60 units. I have contacted a few schools and some have said they consider everything I have done so far. That is undergrad plus post bacc. That confused me because I did not know they did that. I currently live in CA and the schools here are not an option for me due to the high GPA requirements so any schools out of state would be very helpful. Thank you!
