  1. I am considering it! I know tuition would come around $106,330 (not including living costs! ahh!) which scares me since I also got into University of Illinois which is only $36,108 for me with in-state tuition. What made you interested in the program? For me, it was mostly location because I grew up in the area.
  2. Hey y'all, I got waitlisted at Vanderbilt. It looks like they might be sending out the results in waves.. accepted, waitlisted, rejected?? Which makes the waiting even harder... A few hours ago, I was seriously crossing all my fingers and praying to the almighty gods above that there was a glitch in the system. I don't think they get to the waitlist very often because it's such a prestigious program, so I'm not going to get my hopes up. Hoping the best for you guys!!!
  3. I'm in but I don't think I'll be accepting
  4. Go on YouTube and look up "Purdue speech pathology application" or something like that. The school asked people to record 1 min videos about ourselves... Some people went all out and were super into it (several angles, professional microphone, other people) and then others just sat in front of their Christmas tree and talked into their webcam haha. I went w the latter and I got in! So I don't think it matters too much as long as you aren't nervous and awkward.
  5. I started unsubscribing to a bunch of random companies sending me e-mail because I get an adrenaline rush every 30 minutes from an Uber or ebay e-mail
  6. Looks like Purdue is starting to send out their decisions... did you guys get an e-mail from the school or csdcas?
  7. I can't speak for Illinois, but I just got back from UW Madison's Open House and it seems like their department really took a hit from it all... they barely have any funding/scholarships for students, which is normal to an extent, but usually you hear of at least one or two students getting 100% or 50%... even 25% tuition remissions.
  8. Oh what!!! I'm really hoping this is good news for you!!!
  9. Mine says that too but when I click into the application and open it, it's a denial page!
  10. @ohiostatestudent627 have you checked your UW application page?
  11. Ay I feel you... I thought maybe I'd get waitlisted or something but they just rejected me. Did you apply to Core or Med? I'm just telling myself it was because I was out of state, and it makes me a feel a lot better.
  12. @slp2be93 I was thinking the first few weeks of March but I'm not 100% sure
  13. This year was similar to previous years. They gave us an hour to write an essay-- this year's prompt was about our interpretations of success. Then we had to work together to pick 4 items to survive being shipwrecked.
  14. Good point. I'm missing therapy with two of my practicum kiddies for this interview... Love your commitment
  15. Haha makes sense! I'm actually super excited to go to Cali this weekend and check out the campus
  16. If someone asks a question in the admissions page, do you guys answer it there or in the SLP forum?
  17. Is anybody going to the Loma Linda interview next week?
  18. I'm flying to CA from Michigan because I didn't want to lose my spot. I heard that skipping the interview takes you off their list? Although I don't know how accurate this is.
  19. I think it's awesome that you're researching all of this for your daughter! It must be great to have such a supportive parent! I noticed you were e-mailing professors and university contacts for your daughter, and it reminded me of something I heard while working in the admin office at my university. Professors and administrators don't like helicopter parents, and unless it's a serious matter, I think they prefer direct contact with the student. It shows that they're learning to be adults, and laying a future for themselves. Just a suggestion that you start having her do these things too! It will make a great impression on the admissions coordinator and the professors at whichever university she contacts. Hoping you guys the best!!!
  20. Hey and don't be afraid to e-mail and call everyday if you have to. I heard a lot of admissions people forget to reply because they're just so busy during this time of the year. I hope you hear good news!
  21. I have a lot of family and friends in the area. What about you? Yeah my interview is on the 12th.
  22. http://thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php?q=speech&t=a&pp=250 hey! Looks like people got e-mails about interviews on the 27th. You should call the school tomorrow and confirm though.
