K8eCastle got a reaction from Callen in What Schools Are You Waiting On!?
Finally heard back from Wichita State a few days ago. It was a rejection  I'm a little bummed because it was my top choice, but I'm very thankful to have been accepted to three other schools! I have such a tough choice to make

Still nothing from Michigan State even though someone on the results page said that we would be notified this week. Ugh.

I won't be attending regardless of their decision, but I want to know so I can stop checking my email constantly! I'm so ready for this process to be over.

Another day of silence from Wichita State and Michigan State. I just want to know so that I can make a decision

    First of all, congrats!
Second, I went to a small school in Springfield for undergrad (Drury University), graduated in 2010. I still have several friends in the area, and have visited a few times since. I lived on campus during my time there, so I can't say too much about what the rental market is like. However, I really enjoyed the city. It is a rural Midwestern town, but has a lot of eclectic and fun things to do, (and most are very affordable!) and feels much bigger than it is. Having several colleges in the city limits and a decent public school system seems to be attracting younger folks to town, and the food/music/culture scene is better for it.
If you have more specific questions about living there, or general things about Missouri State, feel free to PM me!

I'd say business casual is good. Just avoid blue jeans I think. I wore black jeans to a few open houses. And comfortable shoes so you don't have to worry when you go on tours.

Definitely go before committing I'd say! I'm attending one at the end of March, before I make a decision, since I haven't visited the school yet. On the topic of open houses, does anyone have suggestions on what to wear to them (casual/professional/in-between)?

You don't have to commit before going to an open house! It's a chance to get to know the school, current students and potential students!

I got an email with the subject "WSU Graduate Application" and I freaked out!!! It was just an email from the financial aid department letting me know that my application was received and that I should be hearing from them in the next two weeks -.- I JUST WANT TO KNOW ALREADY

Go go go! The point of the open house is to let admitted students get to know the program better so that they will end up choosing the program

Absolutely go check out the open house before committing. Let them "woo" you. I am doing the same thing with a school I am accepted too. Especially if it's something that you've never experienced, definitely go!!

I got accepted to the University of Oklahoma yesterday! I was so shocked. Now I'm waiting on Michigan State, Arkansas, and Wichita State. I won't be attending Michigan State or Arkansas regardless of their decision because I've been accepted to less expensive schools, but I'd reallyyyy like to go to Wichita. I've been checking my email every 20 minutes like a crazy person!

I removed myself from the waitlist at Oklahoma State today. It was so hard to do even though I have been accepted to programs that I would rather attend. This process has been anxiety-inducing from start to finish

I got waitlisted after interviewing at Oklahoma State. I submitted my application in November and the due date was January 31 so I don't think the date I submitted my application had anything to do with it

Thanks! I got a letter in the mail so that's why I found out today and not on a weekday (but I still obsessively check my email haha)

I've never heard of negotiating with grad schools and to be honest I wouldn't attempt it in this field. In other fields that may be common, but SLP is so competitive that I would be too scared of an admissions board taking away my offer and giving it to someone else.

Grad school is 2 years out of your life while student loans will take decades to pay off.
Take some advice from someone older and wiser- you WILL pay through the nose if you want to live in a "cool" city like S.F., NYC, Boston, Seattle, etc. and it REALLY isn't worth going into way more debt for. SLP pays decently but you're not going to be making $200k/yr like an investment banker or patent attorney or whatever.
A couple of years in some place boring is far better than being middle-aged and wishing that you hadn't spent so much to attend grad school in [insert name of cool city here].
