  1. Thank you! Good luck on your interviews ? Columbia Uni. I was hoping it would be before tomorrow (the financial aid deadline) so if I am rejected I would not have to pay the fee to send my financial aid profile to them.
  2. Columbia photo peeps, the review has not been completed yet. So maybe expect next week? UGH.
  3. I tried calling a few people in the directory today but noone picked up. Was really tempted to leave a voicemail in this day and age lol.
  4. Hey, thanks for the info! Really appreciate it. I saw the gifs but wasn't sure about details, after having a horrible experience with graduate housing at UChicago. Your area seems nice, I will definitely check it out! Wish you all the best with your studies.
  5. I read in this forum that someone had called Columbia admissions to ask and they had just started reviewing Moving Image applications about a week ago? I am planning to call this week to ask about the Visual Art track, I'll post here if I get information.
  6. Hi everyone! I am a finalist in the School of Art and I am hoping to get in. Just doing some early research about housing there. I am married with a small child. I have seen a few grad housing apartments that look nice especially for families but it also seems difficult to get. I was wondering if anyone has seen these apartments, and if so, are they renovated in any way? Can anyone share any observations about the state of flooring, radiators, kitchen appliances and bathrooms? Have you come across fellow graduate students buy in the area? Is it a bad investment? Thanks very much in advance.
  7. Hey thanks. Best of luck with the SAIC interview. I interviewed with photo last year and it was a pleasant experience. They asked why I worked in my medium (photo as opposed to video) and asked me to go through each slide and explain what I was doing. We also talked about what I would get from attending SAIC. I don't know about sculpture but they have nice, central studio spaces and an amazing cage, and some faculty work was relevant to mine so I brought that up. I waited a year to reapply because my financial aid package was 2/3 of all costs out of pockets (on loan). Anyway, I think their style of interviews is condusive to Skype, I am sure you'll do great. There will be some 2nd year MFA students in the room so I regretted not coming up w specific questions to ask them. Best of luck to you! Enjoy Spain!! I also agree with YayYayYay. There are days when I receive three rejections in my inbox. It stings but I have to keep making work, sustain myself and remind myself that I am lucky to be able to choose what I want to do in life. That said everybody here is so talented and I really hope acceptances will flow in soon ☺️ Best of luck to everyone!
  8. Congratulations! I hope you get it. Signed, a parent living in a one-bedroom Edit: I heard Columbia has great grad student/faculty family housing. It may be an urban legend? Let's hope it isn't.
  9. I read that this happened last year! I am sure you'll get an interview though!! rooting for you ☺️
  10. @BICEO and @kindaafraid I found this on my analytics today. it was a solitary hit from yesterday. Its not over? ☺️
  11. aw true! i really thought you would get an interview @BICEO @sylviecerise you have to represent us hopefuls ☺️
  12. i think if it relates to your practice in the slightest bit, mental illness, politics and family are fair game. bringing up those topics in relation to jobs/art has led to positive outcomes for me in the past. i would, however, refrain from talking about other commitments that may affect your time as a student in the program.
