Hi, fellow rhet/compers!!! (I just saw this thread!) 
I'm a PhD applicant, and I was accepted to Purdue and Michigan (English and Education), have an interview for Syracuse CCR, and am waiting to hear back from Miami Ohio, Ball State, and East Carolina. 
I'm currently at Miami finishing my MA, so if y'all who applied have any questions about the program, feel free to pm me! And my sources tell me that we will hear soon... I'm hoping by next week?? 

Oh dear, anyone else get that ominous email from Stanford about checking your online app at 5:30PST for your decision letter?  This method of turning projected rejections into literal ones is so odd and specific it's....almost funny? 

Just got wait listed at Minnesota and accepted at West Virginia ( with fellowship nomination). SO PLEASED!

Got my acceptance from Purdue today, y'all!!!!

Accepted into the University of Nebraska Lincoln's Comp/Rhet PhD, unless they rescind my acceptance for being totally braindead on the phone call! 

I can't believe I received an email on super bowl Sunday, but I just got an acceptance email from my POI at the University of South Florida. The email said that the DGS should reach out in the next few days.

Thank you! You and I have very similar backgrounds and concerns about going back to school. I have a great full-time gig, too, and I do the work I would be going to school to learn how to do. I guess that makes me a late bloomer or something, right?

I was accepted at Madison, and that was the only rhet/comp program I applied to. 

It's difficult to keep track of the rhet/comp people on the "acceptances" thread. Does anyone want to update here? 
I've been rejected from OSU and Wisconsin, but I have a phone interview with Syracuse. Still waiting on Tennessee, Purdue, and ASU. 

@mk-8: That's awesome about UT-Austin! It's a great school AND you'd get to live in Austin! 

Well, this has been an incredible 15 hours -- just got invited for a phone interview for Syracuse's PhD in Composition and Cultural Rhetoric!!!

Sorry to spam this entire forum with my unhealthy Duke Literature obsession, but I just got an email response from the DGS informing me that I'm on the waitlist!!!!!!! Not exactly the news I was hoping for, and I know my chances of getting in off that list are low (but not zero--it's happened before!), but the dream is alive.

I just wanted to find this thread to say this (I didn't post earlier because I didn't want to jinx myself lolol):
I never retook the GRE for PhD applications. I just received an acceptances to UT-Austin, who list 90% on their admissions page. I was in 75%. Last night I was reading old GRE threads panicking about my scores, but it's totally possible. 
 

It would be complete anarchy without fees though. Every department would be inundated with even more applications. Think about that time sink. 
 
Talking about anarchy. I propose a "trial by combat" option to replace the GRE.

When I saw an email about an application decision, I was bracing myself for a rejection from Chicago or Berkeley (per the projected schedule) and was totally shocked by my Austin acceptance! 

Also just got a UT Austin acceptance! (Same deal, email with PDF attached.) First acceptance after a few rejections -- feels good! Congrats to @unicornsarereal -- perhaps I'll see you around!!

Can we talk about the GRE please? ETS makes so much money off of us. They know that most of us are applying to more than four schools (sometimes 10, 14, 17...). $27 to send scores electronically is absolute garbage. 

Another day... It's only 2:30 here, but I know that it's already 5:30 on the east coast. 
After a lot of soul searching (and reading about the dismal job market), I've sort of decided that I don't want to pursue a PhD any more. Despite that, I keep obsessively checking. If I didn't care, I wouldn't check though, right? 
So, do I really not want a PhD or am I such a control freak that I want to make the decision (instead of letting the schools reject me)? 

Me right now: silence = rejection

In my mind, you get props for being able to wait two days without contact! I have no idea how long I'd be able to hold out. I don't see an issue with a nicely worded inquiry to the department.
