What are your reactions to this hypothesis
So this is a tricky one. I do agree that the top applicants are probably trolling (haha jkjk) this thread. But I do think that there is probably a great mix of outstanding individuals outside gradcafe that just don't have an interest in following the forum.
But can we figure this out with math? If most schools receive (on average) 180 applications, and they interview approximately 50 - 60 candidates, and each average candidate applies to 4-6 schools, what would the average interview number be per applicant?
Now someone gifted with quick stat math help a girl out. Haha.

Yes about Utah rejection letter. And when you read the suggestions and you're like, ugh... I have all that lol. Womp womp.

I just received an email from Arcadia saying they are still reviewing applications and they expect to be done by March 15th!
So patiently wait we will ?.

Since we're talking about this topic of being in limbo, has anyone reached out to Arcadia to see if they are offering more interview spots, or do you think they're done?

I’m planning to call to confirm
Awesome, maybe we still have a chance! If you think of it, can you update us after you call?
Thanks!

So if I didn't receive an invite from Utah yesterday, should I assume I'm out? Or did it seem they had more to go?
Thanks friends.

Anyone else going to sleep early so tomorrow will get here faster?

Hello all! Curious if anyone has any suggestions for neighborhoods near the St. Paul medical campus that is good for small families. We ideally want a private entrance type place, and pets allowed is a must! Thanks

Has anyone heard from Maryland? And if so, when did you hear and when did you submit your application?
I sent my app in some time in December, around the 20th maybe? Heard from them today.

I realized it just now that I don't actually like knowing the invite date.
LOL. I only laugh because I am counting down the days until the 12th for Utah... but I know once it gets closer I will be freaking out! Seems like the majority of my schools send out invites later in Feb or early March... soooo here I wait .
Also, all of you with full time jobs, I totally understand. My lab knows of my plans for graduate school, but what if I don't get in? I'm training my replacement!

Hi,
Long time stalker, first time contributer.
Anyways, for those of you who have an interview with Ohio State, when are y’all planning on going for your interview? I’m thinking about flying out February 8th and then doing the interview the 9th. But it would be nice to know someone before hand!
Also, I have a Persian cat, so I’m pretty cool. ?
Well, I have a puggle.... but, you're still cool
I'm flying out Wednesday just because of the flights that were offered. At least I'll get to settle before the big day! I'll message you!

Oh good. They emailed me and asked if I had shadowed any GCs and if I could get them to fill out a rec form for me.
I'm a little bummed because I havent been able to work or intern for a GC long term, only shadow while traveling because there are only two GCs in my area, so I feel like they can only write me a so-so recommendation. I hope it doesn't hurt me. I'm glad the GC was willing to do it for me though.
@Kaity anything you remember from Arcadia that stood out to you during your interview? About the town? Thanks!

Thanks for the info, I'll add that group!

Old GRE scores: 157/154/4.0 (V/Q/AW)
New scores: 162/166/4.5
Wow amazing job second time around! Also, I'm obviously no expert, but I think your perserverance and experience is more important than a good GPA!

Hello! Applied here and trying to gather info on living situations if I'm accepted. All I've heard about Denver is that rent is horribly expensive lately. Do any of you think its reasonable to think I could find something suitable for myself, my spouse, my daughter, and our two dogs within driving distance of campus around or under $1000 a month? Am I way off? Thanks for the help!

Bumping this thread. Curious about living situations near campus. If accepted I'll be looking for housing that is a within reasonable driving distance to campus, suitable for myself, my spouse, my 11yo daughter, and our two dogs. Good school district required. Apartment life isn't really our thing, we're hoping to find a townhouse/duplex/rental home with a private entrance.
Any suggestions?
-
Silly question maybe, but is college park the same area that the medical school campus is at? Thanks

Hello! I applied to OSU and am trying to research living options if I get accepted. I've seen some suggestions a few years ago, but I'm wondering if you have any suggestions for me that are updated a bit... thank you!
I will need to live off campus, as I am married with an 11yo. Also we have two small dogs, so pets allowed is a must.
We haven't lived in an apartment for a while, we'd like to keep in a duplex/town-home/private entrance sort of thing. I'd like to keep the rent under $900mo and would prefer it to be in a good school system for the kiddo.
Also, does anyone know anybody that is in the restaurant management business around town that is familiar of places that might be looking for a manager starting this summer, or maybe places to avoid, etc? (For the spouse )
Thanks for any help!

I thought I would feel relaxed after finishing all my apps. But, now I am just obsessively checking the results page three times a day. How are you all dealing with the wait?
Totally hear ya on the wait. With every ding of my email, I'm jumping to look. I'm sure after another couple of weeks I'll mellow a bit (probably not ;P). I've started a second job to cover costs and this has kept me away from home during the evenings. Also I'm trying to work out and read a bit more, just to find distractions. You'd think a few months wouldn't be so bad. I bet once this process is all said and done and we're in grad school, we'll be wishing we had all this free time back :).
