  1. Hi fellow future SLPs! I am Canadian and am about to begin a Speech master's program in New York. I am, however, hoping to come back and practice in Canada after completing my master's degree. Have any of you been in this situation, or do you know anyone who has been in this situation? If so, I would really appreciate any insight into how I should go about transferring my American certification back to Canada. Thanks so much in advance!
  2. Thank you so much, this was super super helpful!!! Just a couple more questions: Do you know if NYU is usually good about scheduling placements that are geographically convenient for the students? Have you heard anything about that? Also, you mentioned something about the intensive track -- what exactly is the intensive track? Thank you SO much again!
  3. Hi! I am considering taking Audiology and Anatomy/Physiology of Speech at MGH. What did you think of those courses? Were they difficult? What was the course structure like? Also -- which grad school are you at now? Thanks so much in advance!
  4. Hi! I'm sorry that I don't actually have an answer to your question -- I know nothing about Hofstra -- but I was wondering if you'd be able to share whatever info you've gathered about NYU. About what people think of the program, the classes, the placements, etc. Would be very much appreciated!
  5. Thanks so much for the idea! What was the workload like for those courses?
  6. Hi! I got accepted to U of T, didn't apply to Western. My gpa was 3.77 but my sub gpa was 3.89. I had about 200 hours of volunteering in Speech settings, about 250 hours doing language-related research, and another 400 or so hours working with children and adults in various settings.
  7. Hi! I know that this is an old post, but it made me realize -- I never received an ID email from U of T! Is that a problem??!!
  8. Also -- did you look into Longwood ever? Have you heard anything about their courses?
  9. Ok, that's great! Around how many hours of work per course would you say that you put in each week?
  10. Awesome, thank you! Have you heard anything about the difficulty of those courses/ the time commitment?
  11. Hi all! I am planning to start a CSD Master's program this fall, but I am missing several prerequisites. I'd like to do at least a couple of them this summer -- whatever I don't finish, I'll take alongside my master's. Do any of you have recommendations of where I could take these courses online this summer? *If you've done these courses online before, please tell me how heavy of a workload it was and what the cost was! These are the courses I'm missing: Anatomy and Physiology of the Speech and Swallow Mechanisms Introduction to Audiology and Aural Rehab Language Development and Disorders in Children Speech Development and Disorders in Children Any info would be much appreciated!!
  12. Hi guys! I was accepted to NYU's on-campus program for Fall 2018, and am very seriously considering it. I'm an out-of field applicant, though, and right now I'm missing 4 prerequisites. I'm wondering -- do any of you know how their online prerequisite system works? Like, what is the structure of those courses? And would I have access to those courses during this summer, prior to starting the on-campus program? Any information would be much appreciated!
  13. Unfortunately, I got rejected from TC today. Out of curiosity though - what were your stats, for people who were either accepted or wait listed?
  14. Thank you so much for all of your help!! Good luck with your decision!
  15. Such good information! This is so helpful! OK, last question What do you think the major differences are between NYU and Columbia's programs?
  16. Thank you so much for your reply! That was awesome information, super helpful! You mentioned that the NYU and NYMC programs seem pretty similar -- in what ways are the programs similar? Like the courses offered, or placements? I'm wondering because I am not so into the idea of working as an SLP in a medical setting, so even if I went to NYMC, I would want to make sure that I could get a solid background in non-medical SLP areas as well. Did you come across any info about the structure of the programs in that regard? Thank you so much again!!!!
  17. That's so great that you went to visit TC! Unfortunately I'm located out of town and won't be able to visit prior to putting down a deposit. (if I get in, that is!) What did you think of TC during your visit? Would you mind giving your opinion on what are the program's strengths and weaknesses, and why you decided not to apply in the end?
