  1. Is anyone else waiting for University of New Hampshire?
  2. Best of luck to everyone who applied to uni Wisconsin-madison! I was rejected on Monday
  3. I had applied to all MS programs but was recently accepted as a ma in geology. What is the actual difference within a department besides not having a research based thesis?
  4. Haha yeah I noticed after and just left it, I was shocked when a notification came through about it! Hopefully I will get a notification from Buffalo too soon I'm still pro bus though!
  5. Any news from SUNY Buffalo or Ohio State? I saw one acceptance from OSU with a tantalizing tidbit that a PI had one more potential acceptance to send out.
  6. I'm still waiting on them too. They are having major funding problems this year but it would be a great program join! I definitely can't swing it without funding though
  7. I would suggest Trailways bus, they have some great student deals if you wait to buy it in person if price is a concern. It will be a long drive though over 5 hours. Amtrak is the train but i think it might go to rochester rather than buffalo. I currently live in New York but am still wait to hear back from Buffalo, congrats on your acceptance
  8. I am finishing up my second gap year after an americorp program so I am only going to applying to my dream master programs once. The current plan is MS then PhD If this doesn't hash out I am going to be a geologist turned butcher and hike the AT in sections or at least the Catskills maybe consider environmental law or something if that gets old so far 0/5 results in... ready to start sharpening some knives and packing bags!

  10. I'm so glad to see that we already have a thread! Undergrad: SUNY New Paltz Env Geochem Applied to: Ohio State University, UMaine, Uni of Wisconsin at Madison, UNH, Uni at Buffalo I am not 100% sure what I wanted out of a MS program after a broad undergrad program but I found some fascinating Cenozoic to Quaternary geochronology based projects. My prior experience was plant based at Saguaro Natl Park and engineering based studying trombe wall heat retention, grad school is a chance to get back into more of an earth science focus. I haven't heard anything formal yet but I was sent a stack of papers to read from Ohio to catch up on the team's research on marine barite and stromatolites as paleo proxies - fingers crossed!
