ah, sorry! three different films we watched in an honors seminar about modernism and film studies. i got really into the idea through being a nerd for michelangelo antonioni films. he trained as an architect before filmmaking and a trilogy of his films (l'avventura, la notte, l'eclisse) feature space/place as almost their own characters. wasn't exactly what my sop was tailored to (i want to work more with memory/space in russian film/lit) but again, it was kind of all i had. i keep meaning to finish manhattan transfer and would love to read your take on it after i finish.

start with the master and margarita! i never finished sense and sensibility and got halfway through pride and prejudice. love the colin firth version, though!

ah, i did something like this but in belle du jour versus l'eclisse vs 2 or 3 things i know about her. not the most complex paper but it was the longest one i had.

thanks. i'm hoping by that point (beginning of march) to either have good news somehow with my other apps or have at least all decisions in. right now distracting myself with a paper that's due tomorrow. it's analyzing a zine written by queer women about their identification with bruce springsteen's music. it's very much up my alley so it's fun to write.

i know everyone faces rejection and competition is tough but getting a first rejection still stung. at least i have a vacation coming up to look forward to, i guess.

email header said office of admissions but it's for an open house at a program i ended up not applying to. sigh.

it's been getting down to 30ish at night here in florida-- I'm north/central fl so we actually get a vague approximation of seasonal variance sometimes-- and people are dressed like it's -30. forecast has us back at 80 next week. stay warm, yall.

yep. i never finished flas applications because I'd start working on it at work, actual job duties come up, and i forget then say I'll work on it the next day. oh well.

i have a total of 5 big-ish assignments due this week but lucked into a 3 day super bowl weekend because of my friday class being canceled AND co-worker offered to take my shift wednesday so i can finish everything due thursday. this week is going to be a GRAND OLD TIME. good luck, everyone.

if it's any consolation, my quant score was 140 both times. i suck at math. you'll be fine.

does anyone else have senioritis bad? barely a quarter-way into this last semester and my brain checked out already. thinking about apps/moving/health insurance/medical issues and moving... there's not a lot of space left over and my brain didn't have much room to begin with. on a happier note, i just had a fantastic vegan donut. probably not what my body needed after the gym but very soothing for the soul if anything.

penn comp lit said they do interviews via Skype for a short list. i guess skype is better than the video interviews I've done where you record your answers like you're talking to a person but you're really staring at the webcam.

between acceptances and rogue sinuses rendering it impossible to breathe through my nose (I can't take decongestants) I'm not having any fun lately
