  1. Cool! Congrats! I'm in general antho PhD program (I specialize in ancient DNA). Guess I'll be meeting you in August!
  2. Are the two people whom got accepted to U of Montana for Forensic Science in here? I got accepted to U of Montana also!!
  3. So I've been rejected from one school so far and three are pending. I have a 2.7gpa currently but will probably hit 3.0 after this semester. I new that the sub 3.0 doesn't meet a lot of graduate school minimums so I began working like crazy to boost my CV. I am a double major (biology and anthropology), I have participated in four field schools (archaeology), have my own research (which I have presented two times already, with two more future presentations upcoming, which is also in submission for publication), treasurer of a club one year, president of same club for a year, and a few other things. I am terrified of not getting in anywhere because they will just see my GPA and GRE and through my app in the discard pile, causing me to have to contemplate my life and future and figure out a back up plan lol. I am encouraged by some of the replies and acceptances on here though, hoping that will carry over to some more of us on this thread!
  4. Just received my rejection letter this morning from University of Kansas... First rejection of this cycle...never felt that grad school rejection sting before, not a great feeling... Waiting on three more decisions...
  5. Hello! I'm from the U.S. and hoping to get into McMasters University for Anthropology. Had a Skype interview with the prospective adviser as well as with a few of the Ph.D students. Seems like a great school and is in my top 3! Good luck to you all!
  6. Ok, I was just curious. It's such a hot field but I am the only one from my undergraduate University (a small university) doing aDNA and I presented at a small regional conference in November and no undergrads there were doing aDNA related studies either.
  7. Hello, I'm new to Grad Cafe, but from reading other posts, the community on here seems great! I'm playing the waiting game right now, but I'm curious, is anyone else applying to do paleogenomics? I've applied into the Anth/Bio Anthro programs at four schools that I know have aDNA dedicated labs. Just wondering if there are others out there (undergrads attending grad school Fall 2018), as it isn't a very common field for people to get involved in until grad school usually.
