Lmao 4?! Glad I can add another school to my implied rejection list. At least Boulder wasn’t a top choice for me! -

Some are behind and some are weeks ahead. It definitely feels like a weird year. -

I called the English dept- she said reviews are still underway and she doesn't know when decisions will go out but should be soon. -

Anyone want to claim the other CU Boulder waitlist on the results page? -

They must be doing them one by one- 10 minutes ago it wasn't there, but I logged in again, clicked on the application, and right at the top it said "Status Update" with a link to click, which took me to the letter. -

I haven't heard anything from CU Boulder which probably means a rejection- I am honestly RELIEVED. This is the first school I've gotten a fairly definitive response on so far and man does it feel good to have something solid. -

There are some comp lit acceptances up- I definitely didn't know they had a separate comp lit department. Hopefully that means English won't be long after? -

I’m in the same boat as you and while this would indeed be a good idea, it also wouldn’t give me a direction for my anxiety every day (aka frantically refreshing portals and email), so I’m torn. -

No but I still believe not getting an interview is an implied rejection (though I know some disagree with that which is also fine!). -

This is how I felt about Chicago and it took me a couple weeks to really process and accept the feeling of rejection. I completely understand where you're coming from, and it's definitely okay to take some time and not immediately just accept it. This process is really hard because it's not just a small thing- a program is a total life change, and all the factors that go into that can be really hard to accept when you think you've found the perfect place and it doesn't work out. So don't be too hard on yourself or rush to get over it- take some time to process and know you did everything you could! -

I'm getting really anxious about the silence from Chicago. I guess it could've just been delayed because of the weather? -

Yeah, just to second all of this, with an English degree I was able to get very cushy and well-paying job in the grant/proposal/technical writing field, and they are always desperately trying to hire good writers around here to do that kind of work. If you decide to take a break or to not go into academia, play up your writing/marketing/persuasion skills in an industry interview and you can absolutely do just fine for yourself with an English degree. -

There's a ton of Northwestern results up (for other programs, not English) which would lead me to believe the closure didn't impact adcomms too much at least? -

Nope, not me! That's why I'm so desperate to hear, I want a solid rejection so I can move on! ? -

What was your writing sample?
placeinspace replied to Straparlare's topic in Literature, and Rhetoric and Composition
Ohhh got it! I know nothing about film so that is super interesting to learn! And Russian lit is another blind spot of mine but I love hearing there’s work being done in space and memory there. And yes, definitely finish MT, it’s so underrated in the modernist canon imo, and definitely a favorite of mine -

@swarthmawr yeah this morning a bunch of us were talking about that but Warelin said last year there were acceptances even if the school was closed, so you never know!!
