By "haven't heard a single thing from", do you mean post-interview? Did you interview anywhere? Very rare to get offers if you didn't interview, unfortunately. (Not impossible, but at schools on par with Drexel and Duke if you didn't interview you ain't getting in...)

xxxxxxxxxx got a reaction from TheEternalGrad in Fall 2019 Psychology Doctoral ACCEPTANCES!!
So I've officially entered Phase II in this process (Waiting to hear regarding Acceptances/Waitlists/Rejections post-interview). According to most of the schools I applied to, within 1-1 1/2 weeks MAX from interviews is the appropriate time frame to hear from schools, at least with acceptances.
ALL THE PRESSURE! ALL THE ANXIETY! HOORAY! IT NEVER ENDS!

Gotta say sweet words to keep your sidepieces happy enough to stick around.
Would you be okay being a backup plan if they didn’t flatter you? Less likely. I don’t blame professors for that strategy but I’m done taking their word at face value.
Been waitlisted or rejected after compliments too many times.

xxxxxxxxxx reacted to Moyu19 in Onishi and Baillargeon Do 15-Month-Old Infants Understand False Beliefs?
    Hello everyone!
I'm a psychology student and I'm currently working on this very interesting article written by Onisihi and Baillargeon. Here's a link to read it : https://www.researchgate.net/publication/7915866_Do_15-Month-Old_Infants_Understand_False_Beliefs
It deals with children's theory of mind. The authors have tried to examine if 15 months old infant are able to understand false belief (and thus if they had an implicit theory of mind). In their experiment, they've used the paradigm called violation of expectation. Can someone explain me what is the role of the familiarization task in this paradigm and more precisely in Onishi and baillargeon's exepriment? Is it only to show to the infant that the actor's aim was just to find the toy?
    Thanks for your help :)

For anyone reading this: Please do seek out professional help if you feel your emotions and/or stress is becoming overwhelming. You do not have to suffer with these thoughts alone.
Being rejected from programs, especially in your first application rounds, is very normal. I recommend for you to look around at the feedback some of us have given to applicants across these threads who are taking rejections very personally.
Feel free to PM me if you want to debrief a little bit more? I have given so much personal feedback to fellow applicants on here who were rejected across the board.
I went through this process three times, and really learned about myself and how to change my relationship with rejections.

Did you interview with any other programs? Or was this your only interview? Also, is this your first round of applications?
It sucks but time heals everything, trust me. Like @Marginally Significant mentioned above, you use the hurt/energy to make yourself 23892389x more competitive for the next round. This similar situation happened to me last time I applied. The program I was in "love with" that waitlisted me/ultimately rejected me last time invited me to interview again this time around (and they are clearly impressed with my application/materials/growth in my accomplishments), but: This time around, they're no longer my #1 lol. I would say they're not even my top 4... Which is insane to think about, how your interests change over time.
If you do not get accepted this time around, you will definitely learn from your mistakes and use it to your advantage for the next time you decide to apply.

This is such great advice. I got rejected from all but one school the first time I applied. I knew that school wasn’t the right choice for me, but I went anyway because I was so sad and dejected. I made it for a year before withdrawing and deciding I was NOT going to be a psychologist. I became a bartender, a buyer for a clothing store, and then became a social worker (which I loved tbh). Anyway, TEN years later, I’m reapplying. I haven’t gotten in anywhere at this point, but my outlook is so different. It is such a crazy, competitive, unfair, sometimes nonsense, heartbreaking process. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll be sad if I don’t get in (SO SAD), but I have learned more about myself and what I want personally and professionally over the last ten years than I would have if I had just gotten in. I’ve moved a ton, made a family, made mistakes, learned, helped people, helped myself, and came back to psychology because I love it & I’m going to keep on trying even if it doesn’t work out for me this time. Your worth isn’t defined by this, even though it may feel that way. You are more than this and you may be so surprised by all you can accomplish by taking some more time before going to a program. You have your WHOLE LIFE to be a psychologist. It will always be there whether it begins this year, next, or in ten (hi!), or twenty, or whatever!! Rejection hurts. But as someone who was so hurt that I literally needed a break from the field, I can tell you that it heals, and I truly feel like in my case, it was for the best (corny AF but true!). Give yourself a hug, put on a great movie (Crazy Rich Asians is a great feel good movie), pour yourself some wine, and remind yourself that you are a rockstar no matter what.

Agreed. Unfortunately, rejection is just the name of the game in this field. Once you finally get accepted, you then get rejected from externship sites, internship sites, journals, post-docs....
You definitely need to get used the feeling and learn how to persevere.
