Just wanted to drop in and say good luck to everyone. With grad school in my rearview mirror, I can now appreciate this forum from a different perspective.

 Notified by: email from the Graduate Progam Coordinator including a formal letter from the Associate Chair of Graduate Studies informing me of my admission and that I have 5 years full funding including a Rackham Merit Fellowship!
This was my top choice school and I can’t believe I got in and got a fellowship!

I got an acceptance today and cried. I'm going to grad school, y'all ? 
Sharing this process with all of you has definitely helped make this crazy application process a lot more bearable. Wishing acceptances on everyone!

Nothing today ? I concluded that my email and phone must be broken.

This is my second round of applications, and after not hearing anything from a single school last year, this seems so surreal! 

I emailed my POI from the interview I had last week at UN-Lincoln. She responded and apologized for the delay and cited the polar vortex-- but she said I am IN!! This is my first acceptance and I am over the moon!

That's exactly how I feel haha. I just wish some of my programs would go ahead and reject me already - at least then I would have some finality and stop hoping.

Honestly same, I weigh internally whether closure is worth it or not - probably is. The best part is when you get waitlisted because it’s basically a “well you’re not good enough but maybe you are so now wait even longer with anxiety.”

Ugh. I want my official rejections so I can stop thinking about it.

I completely empathize with you! I feel the exact same way. I also have only had one interview out of the 8 places I applied, it went well but haven’t heard anything else and have begun thinking of things to do from now until next cycle when I will have to reapply ? 

Hahaha if this ain't the TRUTH! I do everything possible to distract myself, but somehow I always end up refreshing, refreshing, refreshing.....

Same here. Some mornings I feel great, by the afternoon I feel like $h!t at the thought of not knowing. I'm looking forward to being somewhere for 4-5 years, but packing/moving somewhere new, with people I don't know, and having to develop trust and relationships with a whole new crew all over again is.... overwhelming.

I can really resonate with that. Our lease is up in April and I'm not sure whether I should be looking at month-to-month, sublets, etc. and where, because it is possible I would have to leave in August if I get into a program. I also graduate from my masters program in May, and I'm wondering how I should spend the summer. I'm interviewing for part time jobs right now but I feel shitty that I might need to leave them in a few months, and... yeah. I guess I'm just uncomfortable with the state of not knowing where I'm going to be physically located and where I'll need to try to put roots down. It's like I'm in limbo and I hate being in a constant state of transition.

So much for a "non-judgemental" space for PhD applicants. ?

I'm shocked and soooo happy. 

I think you should just be straightforward about your interests! If you mentioned both POIs, your research interests probably connect the two seemingly different areas. Perhaps it is best to start your answers with a general statement of your research interests in which both areas connect/are mentioned, and follow up with something like "If I were to be given the opportunity to work with you, I would like to pursue..." and cater to each POI that way.
However, you should probably talk to your mentor about how to handle the situation. They may have another (much better) suggestion! Good luck

Yeah I was on that page, read a PM telling me differently, then responded without reading the next page. I need to stop reading this forum on my phone. Knowledge is not power. It’s just anxiety here

I'm back on campus for my last undergrad semester and it feels so weird...

My POI emailed me yesterday to set up a time to call today (and didn't tell me what the call would be about...). When we spoke he invited me to the campus interview weekend, which will be on 2/21-2/23. Also asked me where I was at with the other schools I applied to. 
I'll PM his initials to those interested

@NeuroNerd101 I didn't apply to UCLA, but there has been some discussion about it in the Developmental Psychology thread.

Yeah I’m not 100% sure either. I guess just very soon... their reply wasn’t super specific.
