  1. Re: coursera— no, these courses don’t count unfortunately. Good for independent learning, but they won’t give you credit for it and they won’t look at it as a piece of quantifiable coursework. (I looked into in the recent past)
  2. Thank you!! Yeah, I really wanted to be on the East Coast for career reasons, but I simply could not logically decline the offer Stanford gave me. Unfortunately, none of my East Coast options were financially viable enough in the end. I regret not applying for SAIS! If it would not be a detrimental burden on you, I might go for SAIS in your position. Of course, I know that unfortunately financial issues can steer us one way or another, so it may make the decision more difficult. But if you feel like you can handle the $$ question, SAIS might be the way to go! With that said, GWU Elliott is also a great school that's recognized, so you can't lose either way. Good luck in making your final decision!!
  3. I tried to, just to see what they'd offer and they said that I needed to accept my offer and wait until after April 15th to do that. So I was like, eh ok never mind. And declined. Every other program responded with an updated offer, just not GWU
  4. I think you'll easily get into American and Korbel, and probably Georgetown. If you want HKS, I'd say you should get a little bit more related work experience. I think you also have a good chance at Fletcher. Princetown will be a little tough (could benefit from more experience here as well). Pretty well-rounded profile.
  5. Thank you! Still, I really wanted to be in at Fordham, was betting on that fellowship. They must be much more competitive than I thought (I guess it makes sense since they only accept 25 people/year) but I kind of thought of all the programs I pursued, I'd get this one... obviously I was wrong. But yeah, I heard back finally after waiting forever, and they said waitlist. So it might possibly be a good thing that you didn't hear back yet? hmmm Let me know if you hear back! I hope you get the fellowship!!!!
  6. Heard anything yet from IPED? I was waitlisted so passing it up. Was hoping for a fellowship so that I'd have an excuse to stay in NY. Looks like I'm headed to the west again.
  7. Wow! Sorry that someone was being that rude, jeesh. Aren't there rules against that kind of comportment? Depending on how rude it was, think about reporting it. Otherwise, maybe get another opinion of someone else who you trust to be blunt. It could be that the mean person was in a mood, looking to hit others? Sorry I'm not more helpful, but hang in there, pal!
  8. My dilemma like many: take the money or take the prestige
  9. I’m considering declining my offer, so maybe one of you will get it! Will decide soon. Tough decisions
  10. Hi CoolRad, Have you heard any news on your options yet? Did Fordham get back to you? Looks like they've started releasing decisions
  11. Received letter: "We are pleased to inform you that you have been admitted to the Master in Development Studies programme, which will start in September 2019. Your admission is all the more remarkable as it crowns a rigorous selection process that saw a large number of candidates from some of the world's leading universities." How about you? Scholarships?
  12. Same, admitted Feb 5 and still waiting on funding!!!
  13. Sorry you did not receive what you were hoping for ! Are you international? How much financial assistance did Harris end up offering you? Are you considering other equally good offers?
  14. Hi, I've never been to Chicago and know nothing about it other than what a typical person might know. I know Obama is from there. I know the mayor used to be Rahm (?) Emmanuel. I know the bean thing is there. I know some stuff I guess. Pizza. But I'm about to move there with very little knowledge. Any tips? Pointers? Where should I live if I'm going to University of Chicago (Hyde Park) for grad school... Thanks in advance
