Hi is anyone here applying to Skowhegan 2022? If so, has anyone had their videos downloaded yet? I had mine downloaded 33x and played 3x. I know it's early in the game but curious what everyone else is seeing on their analysis on Vimeo.

i made my decision yet i’m still freaking out! 

While I do not personal have experience negotiating for more funding, my partner did negotiate more funding going into her Masters. I should note that this wasn't for an MFA, but for an architecture related Masters - so I'm not sure how immediately applicable it is.
That being said, she was admitted to 3 schools and told School A that she got into to other two and couldn't immediately commit. School B was in the same town that she lived in and also had significantly cheaper tuition. After receiving the funding offer from School A, she mentioned School B's cheaper tuition as well as the cost of relocating to attend School A in an email to her contact at School A. She was polite, honest, direct and brief and got an additional $2k in scholarships with one email.
I'll also mention that she took pains to avoid any sort of hardball tactics. She was very aware that if she decided to go to School A (which she ultimately did), she'd be working closely with these people for a few years and didn't want to start that relationship off on the wrong foot.

Does anyone have experience/insights/tips regarding negotiating for more funding? Is mentioning another school with a better funding a good idea? 

Thanks! I think the funding depends on the funding available to the department- or at least that's what I was told at National Portfolio Day? This year they accepted 8 people, 2 of the 8 get full funding and the rest are offered 75%. I got the 75% but I'm still really excited about the offer

That’s amazing! I’m really curious how you approached your essays - did you end up submitting the optional personal history statement? Did you list faculty you wanted to work with at the program? These were things I was super unsure about through the process.

I am not sure if they'd have separate committees for different concentrations.. it wouldn't hurt to call/email and ask them!!

Please do not worry!!!! Every experience is different. Plus there is a GREAT chance that you will NOT get the same interviewers.  Both of my friends are English-native speakers so language was not an issue. Also know that interviewers are usually very empathetic and do not expect you to be perfect at a second language. Just get your message across, and show that you understood the question. If they give a negative critique of your work, they might be trying to see how well you react under pressure or how receptive you are to criticism. KEEP STRONG!!!! Remember, they call you to interview because they liked your work. Your work is strong to them so stand by it.

If anyone applied to James Madison University, invites and rejections went out yesterday. I did not apply there, but I know of two friends who got news (one invite, one rejection). Good luck to you!

I got an invitation from Calarts just now.

Well fuck that makes me feel like another rejection is coming. My mailbox has been dead quiet aside from the UCI rejection. I really like UMich too and thought I’d fit into their program really well. That’s a huge bummer.
