Hi guys! I had an interview in mid-January and was notified to get final decision by end February/early March after interviewing domestic students. While searching the results sections, I found that some international students already started to receive offers while domestic students still have not been interviewed. So I am afraid I got rejected. Is it possible???? The program does not reply to the emails.

E-mail to check status of application weeks after interview.

@Jenny01 I have similar situation. I was interviewed in the end of January, and was notified to get a final decision by March afer interviewing domestic students. I guess, in your case, the admissions comittee wants to finish all interviews and get back in the end. Hope, we will get positive result!! -
Me and my friend have applied for PhD this application season. Recently, I learned that she got accepted to Harvard, whereas I got rejected from most programs and have no offers yet. We have similar profile , prepared for the application together, and even asked the same prof for rec. letter I dont envy her, but cannot share her happiness and dont know how to react. What would you do if you had similar situation? So crushed :/

One of my professors did his PhD in one of the small universities in Europe, but was accepted by Stanford for postdoc and offered a faculty position there. Even though the ranking of institution is important, the research that you do matters most, I guess.

I have exactly the same situation. I was emailing back and forth with the program director before submitting the application and he told I have good chances to be invited for interview. Unfortunately, I am waitlisted instead and the program has already started to send admissions offers. When I followed up the program director, he still says I have good chances to get off the waitlist, which is very unlikely. I think all POIs and program directors just write those encouraging emails, however do not mean anything by it. So frustrating :(

I just dont understand why they give me a final decision only after finishing the interview with domestic students? I thought that international students admissions does not depend on domestic students admission or interview.

Hi guys. It has been almost a month since I was interviewed. After the interview I was notified to get the final decision after interviewing the domestic students. Since it is almost a month now, does it mean that interview was bad and I am rejected? Should I contact the program and ask about my status?

Hi guys! Those who were shortlisted and had interview offers at Emory IMP program- Have you been told when the program makes a final decision and sends acceptance offers?
-
IMP. I was told to be waitlisted for an interview and have good chances to be interviewed in March. Do you think the program just wants to encourage me and nothing else? Thanks!

Ironically, I am rejected from my safety schools. Instead, waitlisted at top programs. LOL

No one? maybe you have friends who were waitlisted at Emory...

I applied for IGP program and still no response. The program administrator told they are still reviewing. I guess all the offer invites are gone and only rejections are left.

Post here to get your worries off your chest

Worries: 1. All of my friends already got accepted to their first choice programs. Only me left-anxiously waiting results of the waitlist. So devastated and crushed. 2. I am a senior student and have 15 credits more to graduate. Have no energy at all and cannot concentrate on anything. Afraid to have mental disease soon Excitement: Finally, I will graduate within next 3 months- 274 replies

Hi guys, I need some advice. I have applied for Ms/PhD program and indicated three potential advisors, as requested in the application. However, recently I learnt that those professors are not taking any students in the nearest future. Does it imply that my application is rejected? Or there is a possibility that my application can be reviewed by other faculty, also?

Do international students get late decisions

It depends on the program since each has own timeline. For instance, NYU Sackler reviews international applications sometime in January. The program may have rolling admissions, as well. -
Hi all, I noticed that there is no waitlist thread for 2019 applications. Let's share all together! Currently, I am waitlisted from two programs. Fingers crossed?

Going Back to US... should I contact programs?

I think you can try by gently mentioning that you will be nearby the campus and would like to learn about the program in-person. Meanwhile, mention about the possible interview offer. -
Hi all! I am an international student and applying for CS PhD program. Last month I had PhD interview and recently, I got a message from the program about another interview testing my English. I submitted TOEFL and the score is 110. Is it smth common to test English proficiency by interview while evaluating application?
-
Need your advice. I applied for NYU Sackler as an international student. Unfortunately, I did not receive any notification until now. The program officer says "Once a decision is made, we will notify you". Does it mean I am rejected?

Hi guys, It is already end of January and I did not any notification from the universities I applied for. Does this mean I am rejected? Is it possible to be invited for an interview in Febr/March/April?

How hard is it for international applicants to get admitted???
Izakawa replied to Anxiously Hopeful's topic in Waiting it Out
I think it is more difficult for international students to get admitted with full scholarship. Funding is provided by NIH and int.students are not eligible for it. That is why they have demonstrate the program that they worth the acceptance. Consequently, only 1-2 int. students are accepted. Money is more important than diversity- 4 replies
