I'm crying. I'm a first gen, dirt poor student who worked 30 hours a week throughout undergrad. homelessness, family deaths, the struggle was real. this means the world to me.

Apologies for quoting myself. The tide has really turned -- I was fortunate to be accepted to all seven schools that sent out decisions after the initial four rejections. All are in the USNWR's Top 15.
So please don't despair! Sometimes the best news comes at the least expected times!

Well the dream is over for me. Heard back from my POI at Uchicago. I didn't make it. My best wishes to everyone who has been admitted.

I cannot say I am shocked because I had applied only to Chicago and Harvard. Making graduate applications is a tremendous financial burden and the affordability factor drastically reduces the chances of diversifying the number of application thus limiting my number of applications and attempts. So not shocked but devastated beyond measure.

I just got a rejection email from Chicago. I had been interviewed, and it was my top choice.

Oh it's real alright!
The call came somewhere around 3:30 PST.

Thank you to the above people who have congratulated me and wished me well...it truly means a lot to me. I'm literally dying and can't believe this is really happening. I appreciate the fact that my POI/committee chair took a moment to tell me that no, this is not a mistake, because I definitely was and still am feeling like this is a huge accident. I sounded like a bumbling idiot on the phone and just cried and kept saying THANK YOU SO MUCH IM SO SORRY FOR CRYING. Luckily he was really cool about it and understood. Pretty personal, but I am actually the first person in my family to even complete high school so this is literally the most incredible and unexpected honor I could ever have happen to me and my family.
