  1. I’m sorry to hear that. It doesn’t look like I will get it either since I haven’t heard anything

  3. You are on the waitlist for LINC funding?
  4. Don't give up! Here are some of my suggestions: 1. As mentioned above, retake the GRE. Enroll in a prep course if possible and do the hw to get those scores above 150. 2. Apply to 10 diverse programs (different states, different focuses, etc.) 3. Regarding your statement, demonstrate your commitment to this field through examples. It's critical to back up any statements with examples about what you've learned through your field experiences. Equally important is that you show FIT! Schools want to know you've done your research and that said program is the best fit for you and your goals. **I don't know if the schools you listed above were for all four application cycles, but you really need to apply to more schools to give you a better chance. Keep enjoying those kiddos at your current job and think positively! Good luck
  5. I declined: 1) University of North Texas, 2) University of University - Lincoln, 3) Michigan State University, 4) Washington State University, and 5) University of Nebraska - Omaha
  6. I took classes through USU and thought the classes were great! Very well organized and you can take proctored exams at home.
  7. Do you know if everyone was provided with the LINC scholarship application? Or were only those with relative interests/experiences provided with the application in the acceptance. It was included in my acceptance email, but I have specific interests in early intervention and experience working with children from CLD backgrounds.
  8. I would think that on-hands clinical experience in that population would be more beneficial if you plan to work right out of graduate school. If you plan to pursue a PhD right away, then the thesis would be better experience. Make sure to contact the professor at the program with the thesis option and ask if they would be willing to mentor you.
  9. I've wondered this myself and have spent a lot of time researching the decision process to understand what they look for. The truth is that not being accepted into a program does not necessarily mean you were not just as qualified as the admitted students (I hope everyone realizes this). After looking at GPA, Letters of Rec, GRE scores etc., the admissions committee is trying to create a diverse cohort. This is important to remember. They don't want every applicant to have the same background or same research/clinical interests. Your acceptance can really be influenced by the pool of applicants applying the same year as you. To be competitive, an applicant can attain strong grades, strong GRE scores, excellent statement, strong LORs, and clinical or research experience. What that same applicant cannot prepare for are the other factors an admissions committee at a particular programs needs that year. In sum, the committee is looking for fit. Not only fit with the program's need, but also how you fit with the other selected applicants.
  10. Congratulations! I have also been accepted, but have not had the chance to visit. I am curious about past students' experiences with the faculty in the department. I believe out-of-state tuition is around $22,000 per year including fees.
