  1. I applied to four--- I CANNOT imagine applying to more than 5 or 6. The wait is the absolute worst part, and it is an expensive process. I originally was going to apply to another program to give myself five options, but I decided to take WKU off my list during the application process. Choose wisely. Apply where you could actually see yourself going if you're accepted, more is not better. Quality, right for you acceptances are better. You will not want to keep playing the waiting/hoping/know someone is judging you game for a high number of schools.
  2. I declined my acceptances at: Indiana State University Saint Mary's College I truly hope this will help someone else!
  3. Hello all! I've decided to commit to Murray State University SLP graduate cohort beginning this fall and graduating May 2022! Has anyone else decided to commit to this program? Do we have a group chat/Facebook page? Additionally- I have a couple of friends who have yet to hear anything from Murray. Would you recommend calling/emailing? Do you think they have been waitlisted since they haven't heard acceptance/rejection?
  4. I know at Indiana State University they accept more than the number of seats available, like maybe 5-10 more, because of trends that suggest that many will go elsewhere!
  5. My wait is officially over as of today!!! I've now heard back from all 4 programs -- 3 acceptances!!! NO WAITLIST, NO INTERVIEW. I feel super lucky about that!
  6. Okay- I broke down and emailed Rachel Caracci to ask about the expected notification timeline. Because I know from the other schools I applied to, waiting for this one has been especially hard. She relayed to me that the SLP admissions committee is meeting today 2/28/2020 and early next week to decide on offers, and that we should expect notification by the week of 3/9!
  7. I am about to go INSANE waiting to hear from Illinois State! I watched my YouTube video view count for up by two last week, so I know I am under review. I also know from looking at previous year threads we provably won’t be notified until the second week of March. Anybody in the same boat for this school?? If any current undergraduates there have heard any information regarding the expected timeline please share!!
  8. Hi!! I'm just seeing this (I'm the worst) but I am an undergrad at ISU and usually have the most up-to-date ~tea~ on the University and the speech path grad program admissions! We talk about it a lot in class as everyone is making their decisions and all. As far as interviews -- I believe we moved back to not real interviews but rather campus visit days for admitted students to check out the University and the clinic. If you were not "invited" or they just did not mention it in your email, I would encourage you to reach out to the department head Dr. Vicki Hammen and express interest/get information about potential visit days and come see us! This will make you look great to the program and the staff. @zach2sawc - 5 of the ladies from my cohort have already accepted their spots at ISU. I can hook you up with them if you want! DM me!
  9. Jackie- Happy to say I have my first acceptance from Indiana State University! This is my undergraduate institution, but it does go to show our CSDCAS GPA is not everything!! Best of luck!
  10. Hey Jackie! My CSDCAS calculated GPA is far lower than my university GPA. According to Indiana State University (my undergraduate institution), my overall GPA is a 3.75 and my CSD at 3.64. However, CSDCAS calculated my overall at 3.59 and my CSD at 3.20. I contacted my professor who also wrote me a LOR freaking out and asked for advice. She told me some programs could potentially not review my application, however she strongly doubted it. She said she felt the admissions committees at all of my potential schools (Indiana State, Illinois State, Saint Mary’s, Murray State) were far more likely to consider and place weight in the supplemental materials over my GPA. This professor is no liar- she’s fairly blunt, so I trust her advice and feeling that I (and you) will be just fine! Let me know how this cycle works out for you!!! -Morgan
