  1. My program required a deposit ($500) but it goes towards my bill.
  2. Hi, Unless the Masters degree you have is in something not related to Psychology. I would suggest holding off on getting another Masters degree.
  3. Hey All, I might be a little ridiculous but has anyone been thinking about the Coronavirus and how it may affect the start of Fall 2020 for those who have been admitted to programs? Especially, those of us who are looking to travel to different states I’m of course hoping that this virus is contained before August but there’s a part of me like what if it isn’t? Are we going to be starting out programs via online teaching & Zoom meetings? I’ve seen so many conferences cancelled or rescheduled over the past few weeks. It’s making me wonder...
  4. Fordham University- Counseling Psychology Ph.D. (Paying that Enrollment Deposit today made it so much more real )
  5. Thank you. My significant other said he’s willing to help since my family can’t right now financially but I feel so bad ?. He knows this is my dream but still.
  6. Hi all, So I’m not sure if maybe this has been asked before and I haven’t seen much in my search but does anyone have any advice on navigating a partially funded Ph.D program? I got accepted into a school that will cover 50% of my tuition costs and it’s an excellent fit in regard to faculty and research interests but I’m a little nervous about cost of living since the school is located in NY. I have a few friends tell me that more financial opportunities arise after my first year but how do people make ends meet when your program isn’t fully funded?
  7. I have my annual review coming up and I plan to tell my direct supervisor then so that we can plan out things over the next 6 months. Although certain people at my job such as the PI, CEO and my direct supervisor knew I was applying to school, I think they probably thought I wouldn’t get in. They are making all these plans with me involved and I’m sitting at my desk like ?. Granted my PI was the one who wrote one of my letter of recommendations but I don’t think they want me to go ?. Also, a job can’t fire you if you’re going to school. You can actually bring a case against them for that. I would definitely let them know soon but inform them that you’re willing to still put in the work at this company and train whoever maybe coming in to take over your position. It shows that you’re still committed and not trying to just leave them high and dry. Depending on how my first semester goes, I am definitely thinking about asking my job if I can be a part time worker and work during my school breaks when I come back to visit. At least for the first year. (I work in research btw)
  8. I will still be working in order to have a little nest egg of savings but I plan to attend a music festival, maybe go to Vegas and take advantage of Cali weather before moving back to the East Coast. I think giving your brain a mental rest prior to school is necessary because trust me once classes start that's it lol.
  9. School: Fordham University Type of Program: Counseling Psychology Ph.D Acceptance Date: 2/19/2020 POI: JP Very excited and will be accepting ☺️
  10. Is anyone else feverishly checking their application status portals for the official letter after receiving an acceptance via email? It still hasn’t hit me yet lol
  11. Hi Wierrdo, So I am a TC alum myself and actually did not get an invite to interview this year but I have had some colleagues tell me over the years that TC is very difficult to get into even if you were an MA student. I actually had a friend who interviewed years ago and thought he had a shot and was denied. Don’t feel bad about it. Good luck in your future endeavors!
  12. Hi when was your interview if you don’t mind me asking?
  13. Hey so this is my 2nd time applying For PhD programs and honestly unless you reach out you won’t find out anything if you haven’t received an invite. Usually they wait until they have their confirmed incoming class to send out rejections. I actually received my MA from Teachers College so usually if you weren’t offered an invite to the PhD program they will reach out if they want to interview you for Ed.M and let you know. That’s usually towards the end of Feb/ March. Keep your fingers crossed and good luck!
  14. Hi all, sent a follow up email to the Counseling program at Teachers College to see if all invites were sent out and they have. Good luck to those who got an invite.
  15. Direct outreach. I called and got a generic response so I thought, doesn’t hurt to email them
  16. Hi all, If anyone reading this is waiting to hear from Teachers College, Columbia University Counseling PhD. This was the email I received (direct outreach since I was curious about interview invites): ”Thank you for your interest in our program! Our faculty just received the applications a week ago, so invitations should be emailed within the next 2 weeks.” Hope this helps ease some of the wait anxiety.
  17. I emailed their coordinator on Jan 14th and she informed me at that time that most invites were sent out already
  18. Hi everyone, Super newbie here. Has anyone heard from U of Miami Counseling PhD or Teachers College Counseling PhD? I emailed the Graduate Admissions Coordinator on Jan 13th from U of Miami and she told me that they were still reviewing applications and that invites would be sent out next week (which is this week) but I've seen some results posted so just wondering?
