  1. I can appreciate the dilemma you find yourself in! Were you able to reach out to the schools/POIs you didn't get interviews from to find out about your application and what you could do to improve? Depending on what they say, if you feel you can work on improving those things in a year, then you could consider trying for a funded program next year. Alternatively, what have your colleagues said about Palo Alto and it's reputation professionally for prospective Clinical Psychologists? Seems like the connections you already have there are great resources to be able to answer your questions/concerns about Palo Alto's unpaid program?
  2. I haven't heard anything from OISE CCP either but it's clear OISE CCP and SCCP have begun reaching out for interviews
  3. I think this is tough to answer. Your chances are obviously higher than someone who doesn't interview lol. And I would say with each additional "round" of interviews you're asked to do, your chances increase. But we know that POIs select multiple shortlisted applicants (in case their top choice(s) pick another school). So, I feel there's always going to be a decent likelihood that our POIs top choice may be the other person they shortlisted and we are the "waitlist" applicant ...
  4. Hmm I think you do have to complete a separate OGS form in order to be selected. I thought just can't hold a CGS-M award and OGS award (if you happened to win both scholarships) but I think you still need to apply to both.
  5. POIs understand that students apply to many schools (hence why they create shortlist applicants for themselves) and that there is a limit to how many schools you can list on your scholarship applications. So, I feel POIs should know that some applicants may not have applied for funding through that university and therefore it's not a question that should be brought up. I think a general question of are you planning/have you applied for external scholarships is perfectly fine. But to explicitly ask you to comment on whether this current school was listed on your external scholarship applications seems like an overreach.
  6. So, I actually emailed the Psych department asking for clarification but the response is conflicting with OGS criteria on the Ontario Gov't website. But I never thought to contact the Ryerson awards office, so I'll do that instead.. thanks!
  7. Not sure if it makes sense to ask this here but was just looking for people's thoughts on something. I have a previous Masters in Public Health, in which I received the Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) for 2 consecutive years. The Ontario Government website and all university websites I've looked at (except Ryerson) states that there is a lifetime maximum of 2 years for this award if you're in a Masters program and 4 years if you're in a doctoral program, for a total lifetime max of 6 years you can get this scholarship. Ryerson Psych Dept for some reason only says it is a lifetime max of 6 years with no limits on how many years you can receive it in a Masters or Doctoral program. My dilemma is I really don't think I'm eligible for the OGS if I do a Masters in Clin Psych depsite what Ryerson says, so not sure it's worth bugging my referees to complete an assessment form with short notice (due next week) for something I'm not eligible for. There will likely be other scholarships I'm eligible for and I would much rather ask my referees for references for those awards than this one. What would you guys do in this situation, just apply anyways?
  8. Regarding Ryerson Visiting Day, I guess my question is if in the past interviews would have taken place on this day but this year POIs had their interviews prior to Visiting Day, then how does Visiting Day change the POIs decision on who to make an offer to? Is it possible they have already identified their top choice(s) but just invited multiple people to the Visiting Day in case their top choice rejects the offer?
  9. I know that POIs are still interviewing people this week, so agree with the other poster that I don't think all people on the shortlist would have been contacted yet because it partially depends on how interviews this week go!
  10. I haven't heard anything either. But another poster said that POIs usually reach out early February for interviews.
  11. Hi all, I did a clinical interview for Ryerson's program today. Since my POI is a psych science professor, I had to do two interviews. One with my POI 2 weeks ago and then today's interview with a clinical psych professor who is not a potential POI or supervisor. Very laid back, just asked why clinical psychology and why Ryerson. After that was just me asking questions about the program. Can't guarantee every non-POI interview will go the same but if anyone may find themselves in a similar situation (i.e. having to do a clinical interview with non-POI), hope the above helps!
  12. I didn't think they did interviews because it's not mentioned on their website and the Results page for previous years only has people indicating acceptance/rejection but no interview notifications. However, someone posted on one of the earlier pages that they they do interviews sometime in February and then admissions/rejections go out in March. Considering getting accepted without an interview is odd, I'd say what the poster said makes sense!
  13. I don't think there's a formal interview day. Seems like profs are just reaching out to students ad hoc requesting an interview. There is a Visiting Day though, which I believe is scheduled for February 8. In terms of "clinical interviews", I think if your POI is a clinical psychologist, then it's just one interview. If your POI isn't a clinical psychologist, then you may interview your POI plus have a second interview that is a clinical interview with one of the clinical psychology profs.
  14. It's certainly a lot to consider! But sometimes, your decision gets made for you just based on where you get accepted, i.e. if school B accepts you and school A doesn't...well there's your decision! Alternatively, if more than one school accepts you, it may be a tricky decision, but ultimately it's a good problem to have as the power is in your hands. Maybe it could be better to not spend too much time thinking about this until perhaps you have more information about where you've been accepted. I read that you usually don't have to accept offers until April (?). So, if that's the case, maybe just wait and see what happens for now ?
  15. Hmm that's a tough one because those are all important aspects as well. When I first started looking into programs, I had my mind set on one specific supervisor because I thought they were the perfect fit for me. But when I emailed them to introduce myself, I found out they weren't taking any students for 2021/22 admission. It felt so deflating, I almost didn't want to apply anymore. But then I realized I had been operating with tunnel vision only thinking that person was my best fit. I re-read other faculty bios at the same school, as well as at other schools and ended up identifying more supervisors that also seemed like a good fit for me. So anyways long story short lol, I (personally) would be willing to accept my "second choice" supervisor if it meant the courses, location, and clinical orientation were better. But that's just me. Being with the ideal supervisor for 2 to possibly 6 years is huge and so I completely understand why that would be #1 for most people!
  16. What factors are you considering when you say "ideal program"? Is it the courses, location, ?
  17. Supervisor/research fit and location are most important to me. But I also value the kind of electives they offer. The core classes will probably be the same across most programs but I feel electives is where you can really see what programs value as most important.
  18. Based on past year postings on the Results forum, seems like OISE CCP doesn't send out admissions (or rejections) until March. Given that program doesn't do interviews, they may take longer to reach out than other programs!
  19. Okay, thanks for clarifying! That's good to know. Everything was coming to my regular email but I'll check the portal more regularly!
  20. If you login to your my.ryerson.ca account and then go to RAMSS, there's additional links there, including email communications. And if you have any offers for admission, they will show up in that portal also. But in terms of the email communications found on that portal, it's the same emails you receive to the email address you listed in your application. So, I don't believe anything will show up in that Ryerson portal that you won't receive an standard email for.
  21. I interviewed last week with my POI for Ryerson and they mentioned a virtual open house for early February where they will essentially do a walk through of the labs over the video. He didn't mention whether it would be interactive in terms of whether applicants would be asked to speak up. In terms of speaking with grad students, my POI connected me with his current MA student and I had a separate follow up video call with her. Normally, we would speak with current students during the interview day/open house. However, seems like this year, they may just be having us have zoom calls with the students. Hope this helps!
