  10. It was a serious question, we always learned name an enzyme after a specific catalytic reaction...but what if there are more than one reaction an enzyme can carry out? Do you just name it based on the catalytic reaction with the fastest kcat/km ?
  11. What do you call (name) an enzyme that can perform three different catalytic reactions?

  15. I kept all my science textbooks from undergrads (mainly calculus, physics, biochem, biology, chemistry, engineering), then I also kept some interesting textbooks such as US history since 1877 and developmental psy. I just don't think it's worth the money to resell them to a local vendor, nor online. Plus, they reminds me how I made it this far in my life today.
  16. I have talked to many professors who have done postdoc at MIT and they all pretty much hated the experience. They said people at MIT do not collaborate, and often tried to take down others, it was a very stressful and toxic environment to be in. To be honest, I wasn't surprised to see Movassaghi tried to blackmail the postdoc with letter of recommendation bullshit. A lot of time the school won't do anything mainly because they care more about the school's reputation than academic integrity. I would recommend that postdoc to take this to a local news channel, or upload it on YouTube,

  23. How much weight have you gained since you started grad school? I have gained 35 lbs since I started my program two years ago, it was so bad that I had to buy a couple of new pairs of jeans "online".
  24. It is very important to make sure you have an emergency fund in grad school, the amount of stipend I get is enough to pay for everything. The rule of thumb is to have a emergency fund worth ~5 months worth of living expenses.
