Hi all,

I'm applying to Lakehead Uni. Here is my profile:

  • Graduated in 2015 with a Bachelors in Human Kinetics from UBC
  • Low gpa (approx 71%)
  • 3 public health practicums during undergrad = approx 1 full year of public health volunteering
  • 1 research project
  • 3 years of paid public health work experience (in mostly health promotion/community health programs) since graduating
  • Strong references: 2 professors and 1 employer

Any one else been accepted into a MPH program with a low gpa? Hoping that my work experience and extra curricular will make up for my low grades. Good luck to all and congratulations to those who have already heard back from the programs they've applied to!

Just submitted one of my two applications!

Applying to Waterloo and Brock as I need an online program.

Education consists of a Honours BA in Sociology as well as a Honours BPH (in progress). My cGPA of all of my credits (close to 40) is a 3.3. Not expecting this to increase as trying to get this up once you have 40 credits is next to impossible lol.

My BPH last two years is a 3.8 GPA. cGPA on this degree is 3.3 (79%) because of some unsavoury grades that carried over to my second undergraduate degree.

I have both work and volunteer experience in public health, both over 2 years.

References were from an employer and a professor at my university.

Also have research experience in the form of an undergraduate thesis.

Good luck all!
