Hi, has anyone who interviewed with Sam Fox @ Wash U gotten any updates since their interview? Thanks!

I only gotten an email from them about an error with my fafsa, but I think they should be sending detailed info sometime this week about financial awards and open house.

FYI, accepted to Cranbrook sculpture today, official offer letters to be sent out for that department this week.

Syracuse also sent out official offer letters today.

Hope everyone is doing well! Grad school decision process during the time of Coronavirus is wild ya'll!!

I’m in a similar boat for sculpture. I dunno why, but I suspect, based on previous years, that acceptance offers have been made (usually they call folks a day or two after). Sorry not sure if this helps. When was your interview?

Has anyone interviewed for the Pratt painting MFA? If so how long did it go? Mine was very short, just wondering if that's normal.

I interviewed! I think it lasted for about 30 minutes.

Painting. Sorry, I see now that you applied to a different department, so my (lack of) info is unhelpful

Did you hear from UCLA yet? I also applied for painting.

Nope! I suspect the COL4all strike + campus closing will make for very late results?

@SeriouslyStellar

I reached out to GSU last week to check on status. I never received an interview request from them.

This is what they said:

"I want to give you an update regarding your graduate application status for the Ernest G. Welch School of Art & Design. We are in the process of determining our 2020-21 incoming graduate class and there are still many variables in play. We have sent out the first round of acceptance letters. However, just because you have not heard from us does not mean that your status will not change in the coming weeks as we gain more knowledge about our acceptances and any possible funding improvements within departments. Please know that we appreciate your patience and we hope to have additional information for you soon."

You said you didn't choose Tyler sculpture, was it because of the funding?

Yes, that was a big part of it for sure. My level of excitement for the program just didn't match the debt I'd be facing. Which is why it was great to go in person for the interview weekend and vibe it out. After the interview where you present a slide lecture of your work to current students and faculty, I realized it was not a clear fit like I'd hoped it would be. I'm pretty particular about what type of experience I'm looking for in a grad school and I was willing to wait and find the right one.

So when they offered me admission with moderate funding, I decided not to accept the offer. This time around I tried to only apply to schools that tend to give full tuition waivers + stipends, and did better/more thorough research on schools before applying.

Best of luck out there, let me know if you have more questions! Such a wild time to be dealing with grad school decisions with the coronavirus making life more stressful ?

Anyone here dealing with a waitlist situation? What do you all think the chances are of getting into a program from a waitlist, esp when the the cohort is so small, like five/six people? How are you all dealing with the L I M B O feeling?!

anyone speak to faculty about what the potential outcome of first year MFA will be with the COVID - 19 coming into play?

I'm supposed to visit a school on April 3rd for their open house, but the schools website said all events are cancelled or postponed for 30 days. I haven't received any word from faculty even though they know I am suppose to come visit. I'm sure it's really hectic right now for them and i'm the potential grad are last thought at the moment.

I've been thinking about what if next academic year is postponed due to the pandemic.

I've been hearing whispers about the same thing. I don't know where you are, but here at CSUS, I've heard professors mention that they are canceling classes starting next week, and they've already nixed summer courses at UC Davis because of COVID-19. Got an announcement today stating that all events are canceled for the remainder of the semester.

I applied at the last minute to the UC, so, I was expecting to get my decision super late. But all the UC's are now closed, so I have no idea what my status is. As far as everyday classes go, it's freakin stressful. I'm healthy, but Coronavirus is virulent. What makes me mostly worried is that my elderly mother lives with me, 80% of the deaths from COVID-19 are in elderly people, and that the elderly in China have a 15% mortality rate. So all of us mashed into classes is not ideal because I could easily bring that home.

I'm not certain how the pandemic is affecting MFA decisions, but based on past years announcements, it looks like there has been an effect for some. Just give the institutions a call and ask what's up. Do me a favor, yeah? Ring UCLA about their MFA decisions and post it here! ?

Yes, seems like it... Waiting is sooo hard and it's my first time applying I'm just too anxious.
