Speech Pathology Online Programs - Decisions!

Recommended Posts

I applied to all three as well and In my opinion Baylor was the most personable and most helpful! It is where I decided to go and will be starting the online program in MAY 2020!! They have been so great so far! Good luck with everything!

I applied to University of South Carolina, University of Montana, Eastern New Mexico, Nova Southeastern (May Cohort), Western Kentucky, and Idaho State - their online programs and have been accepted to Baylor for the May cohort. I was wondering if anyone else applied to these schools and if so if you have heard back yet!

An update - I've been waitlisted at University of South Carolina and Idaho State. I've been accepted to Western Kentucky and Baylor. I still haven't heard anything from University of Montana and NOVA. I think I'm going to withdraw my application from NOVA. Has anyone been accepted to Baylor or WKU and plan on attending?

Yeah some schools make their decisions so late. I honestly don't think it's right. We pay so much money for applications and additional fees and their deadline was in January so they would have plenty of time to review applications!

Heard back from U of Montana and I was waitlisted. Have you heard anything yet? Not an outright rejection but I'm still sad. Trying to remain hopeful.

I was waitlisted too! I think they waitlisted a lot of people because I saw a couple other people were waitlisted too. I think I'm going to take myself off the waitlist because I've been accepted elsewhere!

I hope they didn't waitlist everyone, less of a chance that i'll get in. LMAO. I wonder how big their cohort is. What school are you attending instead?

When I was looking on their website I think they said they only accept 10 people for their online program. I'm not totally sure though! But I haven't decided yet. I've been accepted to Baylor and Western Kentucky so I'm trying to decide between the two of them

Congratulations! Emerson seemed the post personable to me, but I've decided to attend NYU because the program seems to match most closely to my goals and I feel the most excited about their program. The only hesitation (between NYU and a local in-person program at my undergrad institution) is COST. These online options are so expensive!!

Can you share your GPA and GRE stats? I am thinking of applying to emerson and was wondering what your stats were?

Yes, GPA was 4.0 in major, 3.89 cumulative. GRE scores were 149 Quant and 150 Verbal. 4.5 AW! Worked as an SLP-A in Texas for 3 years and felt I wrote a strong personal statement. Recommendations from two professors and one supervisor. Hope this helps!

I got my rejection letter from Baylor yesterday. I called my admissions rep for an update and she said I should've received a decision by now. A few hours later, I got a rejection email. I was accepted into NOVA Summer 2020 cohort today. Is anyone else accepting their offer?  I wonder if they will still hold the orientation in April with the COVD-19 pandemic.

Anyone apply to Emerson for this fall? If so- anyone get accepted? What were everyone’s stats? Also having trouble figuring out who I should use as references since I was not close with any professors. My GPA was about a 3.6 last 60 credit hours and 3.3 cumulative. GRE scores were 147-149-3.0. Do you all think it’s worth me applying?

Hi all,

I've recently been accepted to three online programs for Speech Language Pathology: Emerson College, NYU-Steinhardt, and Baylor University for the May 2020 cohort. YAY!! The obvious con is that all three are super expensive.. but I'm willing to make the investment for flexibility and quality programs. I am waiting to hear back from a few other programs, but wanted some feedback regarding these three in the meantime.

Are there any graduates from any of these programs that could weigh into my decision? Good or Bad? Or, has anyone heard any information that would be helpful to decision making? I feel like I've researched the whole internet looking for ratings/opinions but I know these programs are fairly new so I haven't found much. I'm trying to keep this short and sweet but open to giving more info if needed. I didn't think I'd be accepted into all 3.. so I thought it would be helpful to weigh in some opinions. BIG DECISIONS-- HELP!

Programs:

NYU-Steinhardt (online), Emerson College (online), Baylor University (online), Lamar University, University of Houston, University of St. Augustine (online), Our Lady of the Lake University

Applied, Accepted, Interview, Waitlisted, Denied

CONGRATULATIONS! Was this for the May 2020 Cohort? Not familiar with the schools, but did want to go ahead and congratulate you! These programs are hard to get into. As a matter of fact, I am interested in NYU's online program Fall 2020. I just got a call yesterday and was asked if I had any questions regarding the application because I started it sometime back. I not quite sure if I should apply since I saw a few ppl get accepted already. Makes me think they have already or are close to choosing their Fall 2020 cohort. Any advice? :)

Do you have any SLPA experience? If so, you could ask your supervising SLP or other SLPs who work with you to write you letters of recommendation.

Hello! Does anyone had any advice and tips for Emerson Online interview??? Mine is coming up. I don't want to over prepare, but if anyone had any tips of what to expect I would so appreciate it!! Emerson is my top choice, and this is my first speech graduate interview  ?

Hey, that's so exciting. Yes, my acceptances were for the May 2020 cohort-- so no worries. I think they're still going through applications for Fall. I actually decided to attend NYU of the schools I was accepted to... and I feel really confident in my choice! Classes start May 18th, but just my experience so far with Admissions and Student Success Advisors, and Webinars to familiarize myself with the program have been really helpful and very exciting. This program seems to be a great one-- and my course map until graduation proves the diversity of coursework. GOOD LUCK, I hope you get in!!

The Emerson interview was much less scary/more laid back than I thought it was going to be. You're asked 3 questions by your admissions counselor, have 12 mins to answer (plenty enough time imo) and the answers are recorded then sent to the review board with the rest of your application. I don't remember the questions exactly.. but they're along the lines of what would make you a successful grad student, why speech language pathology, etc. Nothing specific about research or knowledge in the field necessarily. GOOD LUCK, my advice is to relax and just be yourself. Answer honestly to the best of your ability and you'll do great.
