I just got done playing phone tag with their admissions office, the liberal arts college, and finally had to leave a message with the department, which might lead to another phone call and message to the program. All over a lack of response to my emails, and my lack of a status update. This is a nightmare. Shoot, you didn't apply to OSU, not sure why I thought you had. I know someone on here did... ANYway, thanks for the condolences =). Ydrl 1
koechophe Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 I just heard back from UNLV. They said they are still processing applications and should have notifications out no later than April 1st. I honestly can't believe they still haven't processed all their apps this late in the game, but good to know we should be hearing soon. The end is near, everyone! arden and shakyboots 2

It's a gamble. Transferring to another program is rare. As with any terminal degree, it's expected that you're committed to the program unless there's some extenuating circumstance. Thank you for the guidance. Question...no funding is pretty extenuating (for me). Could it be done or is it like so taboo that no one would accept you? I ask this because I've seen the graduate catalogs say that they will admit/transfer with up to twelve hours. I just don't know the unspoken rules. Many thanks, Cristie

My letter of rejection from them said they only accepted 1.3% of the applicants this year. And that the work had to be "Interests of our particular faculty". My writing could be described as dark and southern. That was on Friday at 6:18 pm. Remember I'm fiction, last name starts with an A. And I still haven't heard from UNO. Do you know if any fiction/non people have?

M-Lin Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 (edited) also did anyone happen to have the guts/impatience to e-mail BU? It's not unusually late for them to not notify at this point but just wondering (out of boredom and anxiety) when they plan to notify this year. Edited March 22, 2021 by M-Lin

If another program asks why you're transferring, and you say it's because you're unfunded, they'll wonder why you accepted the offer in the first place. Moreover, I think it's a big gamble to pay for that first year when you have no guarantee of transferring into a funded program. Cristie 1

The only reason I'm holding out hope is there haven't been any U Florida poetry waitlists on the gradcafe results page. Also if Florida does happen to waitlist me it would be exactly what Maryland did.

Yep, I did and got a response March 15th stating we should be hearing back "by very beginning of April." But I really wish they could just send decisions out this week... shakyboots 1

Yeah, per their history, they seem to send out acceptances in late March and rejections in early April. Not even sure if they have a waitlist??
oubukibun Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 (edited) For what it's worth, it seems grad school application/admission season is essentially the living embodiment of: "You're tearing me APART, Lisa!" "Oh, hi, Mark." I'd take things in long, breezy strides with a drink (alcoholic or otherwise) always in hand to lubricate the silence. Also, I always miss the good stuff, but I'm so glad Facebook deleted my empty profile before Draft ever allowed me in. What a horrifying nexus of everything I absolutely abhor. Dodged a bullet there, fur shore. Phew. Edited March 22, 2021 by oubukibun FairleyAlfy, Cristie, Graceful Entropy and 1 other 4

I guess I'll probably see you next year for the next cycle. Here's hoping it goes a bit better for both of us ? I'm still IN my undergrad, and this is my first time applying. A lot of people here have been going at the loop for years and have a lot more life experience. I assume a lot of the people chosen over me are in that boat, and I don't feel bad about that. I've worked hard, and I will continue to work hard, and I'll make it there eventually. Edited March 22, 2021 by koechophe iai 1
