Are you all going to read your decision email immediately? I think I will first read what people post and say on this forum before looking at the email ?

Well...I was thinking about that..I think I will have some tea before opening the email.. I don't have any idea what's behind this particular choice of mine ???‍♀️seems like there is no particular logic??‍♀️but this is how I imagine the situation for myself..

But why you decided to read the posts first, prior to reading your decision? Any logic? Please share, may be i will follow your example☺

I think I will...I told one of my best friends and my partner to be there with me (Zoom) while I open it (because I think I will cry a little bit regardless) but I may just open it as fast as possible to get it over with and then move on. Like ripping off a bandaid.

Wow it's good that your friend and your partner will be there with you (even via zoom).. as for me, I decided to start a video when I check my email? and if it's positive I will post it on YouTube ? as many of those  "Stanford Admission reaction" videos posted there ?

We began communication in September and touched based a few times eventually meeting over Zoom for what I assume was an informal interview in late November haha. He was very supportive throughout the application process and reassured me I could ask him whatever I was curious about, so I figured checking-in regarding decisions wouldn’t be the end of the world.

Could probably be this person who got accepted after reaching out to POI... ?

My PoI didn't reach out to me else I would have definitely mailed to ask. I feel that without an interview I have only 0.1% chances of being accepted. Also, I have a few deadlines on Friday so I think I will not check my mail. What if I am too sad to carry on working! ?

Yes. I also was thinking about my age because I am older than normal PhD candidates. Then i went to Stanford GSE site and checked stats. Then i saw average age 54 I guess (may be mistaken with exact numbers now but the point is there are older applicants admitted) so that calmed me down. But aside my age issue I was thinking: 1) is my essay good at all, 2) my GPA is not high at all, 3) I am coming from a wired region, 4) what if there is no.match between the profs that I mentioned in my essay and their real interests, 5) what if my SOP has not been read at all, by anyone, 6) seats are limited due to covid..

And those thoughts have been rolling in my head for the last 2 months..

The average age is actually 26. Someone just posted the link to the statistics.

Congratulations to the SHIP candidate who got accepted! I think since professors now know who they are going to take on, it will probably start noon onwards. Someone mentioned last year the mails were sent out around 3/3:30 PST. I think the time sounds ideal. Not too early and not too late.

I had an interview but not by my listed POI but the interview probably did not go well so feel too scared to ask.

Fair enough! But good for you that you got an interview opportunity. I feel horrible because my hard work and years of experience were not enough to get me one interview. This is life, I guess!

Sorry, I am in a downer mood due to my nerves.
