The thread seems so quiet this year..!?

I see that some received an invite to an interview for Harvard PHS- EH track, Congratulations! I wonder which specialisations received emails so far, and if I should consider myself rejected if I haven't heard anything back until now? Can anyone kindly share some information in case of an invite? i.e., if it was from a PI or the department, international/domestic, which other schools applied to etc. I asked how the interview process goes, but haven't heard anything back from the office.

I applied to Harvard, Columbia, Brown, Yale, UCLA, UC Berkeley, Stanford. All EH or Epi.

Saw the same and was curious. I applied to Clinical epi in PHS at Harvard and haven't heard anything. Can't tell if it's a bad sign or just gotta wait haha

Hi, I haven’t heard back from JHU. From their info session online, review timeline is Dec-Feb, decisions will come March for DrPH apps. All decisions will come out the same time a with no rolling admissions.

You can view the webinar here. :)

I believe Harvard is releasing decisions at the end of this month. Hopkins is a bit later as mentioned.

I think it's hopeful in your case since clinical epi is under a different field from EH! Fingers crossed !?

Nevermind - I just re-read the Harvard confirmation and they say they will release decisions mid-February to mid-march!

From last year's thread, it seems that first round interviews for Harvard's DrPH were sent out in early Jan, second round in early Feb, and final decisions were made by mid-Feb. I'm hoping the admissions team is taking longer because they were on a well deserved break over the holidays, and not because all interview invitations have been sent! ?

I wonder if they might have replaced interviews with the Kira Assessment? I attended several of the info sessions run by the admissions department and don't recall anyone ever mentioning an interview phase beyond what was required by the kira assessment... Unless anyone else here knows differently?

Received an email today to talk from POI at UNC Health Policy and Management. I am an international student and my research interests might or might not fit with the program, so this could be for clarifications etc. (especially given the challenging funding situation for international students?)

I don't know if interview is a required component. Based on my understanding UNC tends to have a long stream of admissions etc.and different departments run differently. Last year I knew someone who didn't get interviews that get in UNC epi in March.

Had the meeting today and I guessed right. It was mostly for clarifying my interests and training needs. POI said it’s still early in the review process and usually would hear back in 5-6 weeks or more. If nominated and awarded a fellowship then will hear back 2 weeks

Hi all,

I just found this wonderful thread.

I was wondering if anyone knows when any news will come from any of the following - Columbia, BU, Pitt Public Health, NYU, Rutgers, Umass Amherst, UatAlbany, George Mason or Rochester?

I have applied for the PhD in Epidemiology program and have already received 3 rejections so I am freaking out right now?

Thanks in advance!

It seems to not be following the same order this year as there have been very few invites from Harvard in PHS, especially in epidemiology...

not that I've seen, so it seems as though invites are not happening early Jan this year as we are already mid Jan..

Hmm good point. I know they had the kira assessment for all applicants last year as well. I would be surprised if there were no additional interviews for such a competitive program. I guess the only way we'll know is if we hear from Harvard or if someone posts on gradcafe that they received an invite.

Yeah I noticed that too.. although one Epi interview just got posted on the results board today! Fingers crossed for all who applied.

Just finished an interview with Duke Pop Health. Not very thrilled with how I did and I wouldn't be surprised to be rejected. Very basic questions (but the basic ones are the more difficult ones, aren't they). Twitter threads on PhD interviews were helpful in my preparation, but you can't be prepared enough I guess. One down, a lot of waiting to go.

All the best to everyone. We got this.

Can I ask which concentration you applied to?

I chose organization and implementation science. In my statement I listed two faculty, one in IS and one in Economics, so the POI wanted some clarification and said the one in economics was too busy to be a primary mentor, I didn’t mean to choose him to be a primary mentor anyways, so I think this interview was mostly for clarifications and may not be the norm.

I saw one person received an invite to an interview for Harvard PHS- Nutrition track. Has anyone received any interview invites from that track as well?

I also interviewed for Duke Pop health PhD yesterday! Definitely got some questions I wasn’t expecting but we will see what they think. Should be finding out final decisions for them before the end of the month, right? Any clues on how many ppl got interviews?

Thanks for sharing! They said an interview was not required in the information session last November... I hope I still have a chance.

So exciting!!!!! I also applied for Epi, this waiting game is killing me. I have all my fingers crossed for hearing from Brown. I read on their school website that their Fall 2021 cohort was 2 students....
