It turns out that I didn't submit the departmental application for UT-Austin, just the university wide one (why am I so dumb?).  I'm kind of paranoid now that I somehow missed applications for other schools, so I just wanted to make sure - Berkeley, Chicago, CMU, Columbia, Cornell, Georgia Tech, Harvard, MIT, NYU, Princeton, Stanford, and Washington-Seattle all had just one application to fill out, right?

Berkeley and Washington-Seattle only had a single application, you are correct.  They were also the most user-friendly applications in my experience.  UT Austin was also very confusing for me, especially how they only send out emails to your LOR-writers once you submit the application!

baah! UT-Austin application was bizzare for me too. Now I am no longer sure if I really submitted the CS department application.   How do I know? There are some 2-3 acknowledgement mails though but none saying that I submitted to CS ..baah baah baah

I e-mailed the department about something and they referred me to this website - https://services.cs.utexas.edu/recruit/grad/applicant/ - and then I realized that I had never been there before, and found out there was this departmental application.  I also didn't get any confirmation e-mails, if that makes you feel better.  I'm so mad at myself, especially since I paid the application fee and for GRE scores too!

@cstheory13 Yea I'm a theory student.  I haven't hear anything either.

Does anyone know if Phd acceptances and master acceptances come out around the same time?

I'm getting frustrated to find out that people are getting admission phone calls from UW. With the same pattern with the last year, it seems that UW gives admission phone calls for a couple of days (2/1-2/3) and then sends a bunch of rejection emails soon, like 2/4. I see one person who got a call from UW AI group. Congrats! I can't envy you enough...lol.  May I ask who called to deliver the news? Was it a POI?

I am also terrified when I see all the UW admissions... It's my top choice but I haven't heard anything either...

Let's hope!   :)

btw, has anyone mailed institutes which are apparently done with their first round? like UIUC,UCB,UT-Austin? If yes, then please share the any relevant details.

Positive thinking dude! I know you're probably trying not to get your hopes up in case you do actually get rejected but there's no harm in taking a neutral/mildly optimistic position. It'll probably help you live a normal life while your 'fate' is decided.

Desperation is unproductive, especially when (it looks like) you've already been admitted to two places.

It's for their CS MEng course - so no defined speciality yet.

There have been a few people on the results search that have heard back from UWashington, they all look to be in Machine Learning.  I have not heard anything back yet for Computer Architecture....

Hrm, I saw that someone posted an acceptance to Harvard's EconCS group a few days ago. That would have been one of my top choices :/

On the off chance that that person is reading this, would you mind sharing which group member contacted you? Just so I can get some idea of whether I might still have a slight chance, or if I'm definitely out. (If you don't want to post here feel free to PM me of course.)

CMU turned into a slaughter house yesterday, or so it seems from the truckload of rejections they handed out :(

Hang in there guys!!!

This is depressing. Uwashington just sent out a few rejections. I'm just waiting on mine because knowing how many have been accepted already I know I must be rejected.

You never know, you might be sitting on some internal waitlist. In my experience though hat uncertainty (the sliver of hope in the sea of dispair) is so much more frustrating than just being rejected.

OhMySocks I see you applied to Brown. Have you heard from them? I see some people have. I went to undergrad there and currently work at a company where 2 of thier professors consult weekly (and are 2 of my letter writers). And I haven't heard. I know many places don't like to take their own, but when applying I was figuring I would get in and basically only applied somewhere if I would rather go there than brown... stupid i guess.

There's a discussion about Brown CS admissions here:

I haven't heard, I commented my own situation with them on that thread.
