Well just got an email from Candler after I sent them an email about aid.  Upon my admission they said I'd learn about funding a few weeks from then during February, but they are just now finishing their application reviews.  The first round of funding decisions for MTS go out the week of March 11th....so basically I'm expecting next week and the week after to be the weeks of truth as far as funding and admission.

Trip to visit Wake Forest the 18th to 20th - BOOKED!

Congrats. Too bad Nathan Hatch (the President) probably doesn't teach classes, he would be awesome to study with.

I majored in History at a top-25 public university and graduated a year early with a 3.8 GPA. My GRE scores were a bit low, however (163V/149M/4W). While I hate to point this out, I feel that I must since it might potentially influence the admission committees in my favor--namely, that I am a "minority" with an immigrant background.

Basically, does anyone think I have a shot at either HDS or YDS?

Yes, I would say you have a shot at both of them. You have a strong GPA with GRE scores that are terrible, they're actually better than mine. And yes, the minority status does help, especially with funding. There's lots of grants and scholarships out there aimed just at minorities.

I didn't get a funding call until the beginning of April last year.

If it helps for all of us waiting on YDS, their Spring Break is from March 8th to the 25th, which possibily means they'll let us know by the 8th since the 15th lies in this break period.

I wonder if this means they will let us know about funding before then...?

Received an email from Marquette at 12:00 AM to notify me of acceptance to the M.A. program.

I was also admitted late last night to Marquette's MA. Taycross, did you get any information about funding? I was told that the decision, in my case, is still pending. Did anyone else get into Marquette and get news on funding?

Ok, it's the first week of March.

Any time now, Boston College. Any time now would be great.

Same for Vandy!

I was told the same thing, "the decision about financial aid in your case is still pending." I am wondering if they offered funding to their top students and are waiting to see who among them will accept and decline. At any rate, I am excited about and encouraged by the acceptance. Fingers crossed going forward.

As best I can tell from last year's results submissions, most decisions were made and sent between now and next Friday. This could be a very good or very bad week.

Anyone out there still waiting on Vanderbilt?

Traditionally Vandy lets their first round of acceptances know something about the last week of February with some spillover into March. So I imagine there's some still waiting and it looks like Josh J. is in the same boat as you.

YDS no longer requires GRE scores from their masters applicants, so no worries there.

There hasn't been any new notifications of acceptances at YDS for a while. I suppose it's just the calm before the storm. In the meantime I'll continue to keep imagining different reactions I'll have when I'm opening my acceptance letter online.

Its almost 5:00 and its a Friday, brace yourselves everyone.

Yes and no. I was notified on a Monday and looking at the results from others, they're all largely on a Friday or Monday.

So, I'd encourage others to wait out til Monday and perhaps if nothing come Tuesday or Wednesday, then call.

So today I received an email from Duke. Sadly, it wasn't the email I was hoping for but it was interesting. It said, "We've reviewed your application with great interest and are finalizing our admission decisions." In the meantime, they wanted to send out a letter outlining how their tuition waivers and costs add up. The reason I thought this is was interesting is because when I was rejected from them last year, they sent me no such email before hand.

However, they would be offering $10,000 less than Wake Forest while their tuition costs $10,000 more. Seems like that would be a no brainer for me.

Jill:

So for Duke, I saw you applied for Art History, but are you doing that as an MTS or MDiv?

Is that how it usually goes?

Eh, YDS notified many people on a Monday at 5:30p.m. their time, so it's debatable. GTU replied that they had received my application at  9:00p.m. their time. Odd. Very odd indeed.

At Duke I applied for the MA in their religion department. Boston University was art history, as is Tufts. HDS is MTS and Wake Forest is MA in Religion.
