Fall 2016 Applicants

Once you've been recommended for admission how long does it usually take the graduate school to send out the official word? Found out last Monday I was recommended for admission and I have spoken with my future advisor, but I still have not heard anything from the graduate school! I emailed them today. I suppose they are just really busy with other programs, but I am getting so impatient!

It takes awhile, sometimes weeks. In many cases, grad schools won't send out word until all funding decisions, admission decisions, etc. are in from all departments-- which takes awhile. You're in, so congrats and don't worry about it!

I was interviewed by Rutgers and subsequently waitlisted. My understanding is that they have made their offers already (less than five funded offers!) and are waiting on responses from the admitted students.

Any news out of UC-Irvine? They said we could expect to hear back in February, but the "application pending" status is starting to induce anxieties...

I'm still waiting to hear from Yale, Harvard, UPenn, NYU and Duke.

Have other people heard from these places... I know some have done interviews

... pew... its been a rough week rejection wise. Few hopes left. Does anyone have any news whatsoever about Johns Hopkins? I see someone was accepted 11th of Feb and then utter stillness... Does that mean they have made their picks?

I got a rejection email from them this morning. It was a generic email explaining that there were a large number of qualified applicants. I'm not too upset because I've been accepted to the UCI Informatics PhD program.

I got the same email, unfortunately, but congrats on the acceptance! Likewise, I've been accepted to continue here at OSU, so it looks like we are safe!

No- I'm finishing my MA here and was approved to continue for Ph.D. study.

Thanks! Congrats to you too! I got accepted to OSU's anthropology MA program back in 2011. I ended up going to a different program and sometimes I regret that. It's a great school and everyone else in my family has gone to OSU. Go Buckeyes!

Harvard has made their first round of offers, I believe -- an acquaintance was recently admitted.
