anyone heard from Jefferson genetics, genomics and cancer bio phd?

I haven't yet. I've applied to them as well, but there seemed to have been some issues with my transcript sending getting lost or something.

Just got my first interview invite from Buffalo Biological Science.

I am so excited and anxious in the same time. They email me today to set up a Skype interview for TOMORROW!

Anyone have certain tips for Skype interview? Would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

OMG! Congrats.

And I guess they review applications on a rolling basis. My application was completed in the last week of December. I wonder if thats a problem.

When did you apply?

Thanks! @RachanaDS

I submitted my application mid-December but all materials were completed last week of December, too (one of my recommender was on vacation). I also thought this comes sooner than I expected it would.

In the email they mentioned that they are currently contacting international applicants to set up Skype interview for this week. Maybe they're inviting domestic applicants in the next batch of invites? I hope you'll get yours soon.

Has anyone heard from Stanford Biosciences (Biophysics)?

Also haven't heard from Stanford Biophysics, but I saw one interview posted on the results search around December 20...

So we've had two conflicting reports about the status of MIT Biology interviews... anyone have any other insight to add as to whether MIT Bio is finished with interviews or not? If not, I'll give them a call tomorrow...

Also since they interview and accept such a large cohort of people and have tons of funding it's not like oh sorry you're a great candidate but this year we are looking for people with different research interests because only that PI is recruiting. Like I was surprised I got an invite from Emory because they accept 5-10 people and I fit less there with my research interests. UPenn accepts more than 100. If you don't get an interview they probably didn't like something in your application and I honestly can't think what that could be.
I have 4 amazing letters from the director of my external research funding agency, chair of the biology department who taught my journal club type seminar, professor that taught my cell biology and saw me give an oral presentation at the conference and my PI who is a chair of the department and a huge name in cancer research.
And it could totally be regional bias because I go to UChicago it's more 'expected' that I stay in the midwest. I've heard that from many people in admissions.

Can confirm, like Bioenchilada, that regional bias is definitely NOT a thing. We have a very diverse cohort in my year and others - students are from Brazil, China, India, and all over the place domestically (many are from Puerto Rico, California, etc. and many are from the Midwest area). We have a few from Pennsylvania, but many went to college elsewhere. In fact, I have a friend in Cancer Bio from the Chicago area!

Also, the fact that Penn accepts a ton of people across the CAMB program doesn't really mean anything for your individual chances. Within CAMB, Cancer Biology and MVP are the most competitive programs with the most people vying for the fewest slots, so all bets are off, especially if you are international and therefore are not able to be funded via many federal grants. I understand you really wanted to come here, but I just wanted to clarify those points for you as well as others who are applying or thinking of applying.

My interview at MSU for Plant Sciences is all set...but still haven't heard anything from anyone else. Are plant programs slower to send out invites? I also applied to BBS programs if the schools did not have Plant Biology related PhD programs.
