somewhat weird Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 hello! Does anyone know anything about University of Utah, it's the last place I'm waiting to hear from. There's two acceptances posted, but no other updates. Thanks!!
Y.Li Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and very excited to see so many comm people out here! My research interest is health comm. I am graduating from a Chinese university this June and will go the the States this August. It's a dream come true. I just accepted my only offer from Penn State's (CAS) MA program this week and will be visiting there 3/15-3/18. Anyone going too? gradswag and hnm1231 2
MrCovington1914 Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 I applied for Communication program for at Utah. They said their decisions go out the end of Feb and the beginning of March.
DBear Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 @Y.Li congratulations on Penn! There's a thread on the forum for admissions results and campus visits - I don't recall seeing anyone else mention Penn State yet, but you should have a look!

DBear Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 The application thread seems to be very quiet.. Is everyone alive?? Surviving?? I hope everyone is breathing! Tomorrow is Tuesday the 21st of Feb, which leaves us with 6 working days left in the month, though there seemed to be quite a few results posted over the weekend. Either way, for those programs that are keeping us waiting with silence or putting us on a wait list - we're at least one day closer to hearing something. Seems like visits are taking place soon, too - so if you have any fun stories, please share (there's a thread for visits somewhere here) - Good luck with the last full week in Feb! heyDW 1
av2010 Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 I'm just amazed at how fast everyone, myself included, found out about everything. I was honestly expecting March! kirbs005 1
heyDW Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 I've only heard from one program. Luckily it was my top program, but damn.
Pelicula Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 De-lurking to shed some light on Utah (because this process is stressful enough, right?). I was one of the two people posting acceptances on the results page in early February. I know that I was nominated for a fellowship with an early February deadline, so I'm wondering if they make decisions in stages? I was told that there will be two visitation weekends for admitted students: One in February, and one in late March. I'm not sure how much light that sheds on things, but hope it's helpful! Now if only I knew what was going on with the University of Washington...

U Mass Amherst..... still haven't heard anything at all back from them... Just one.. last.. school!! @heyDW Isn't it strange how getting into a school you're excited about doesn't make you forget about everything else? I honestly thought it would. I guess that I'm doomed to be anxious through this process til the very end! Edited February 21, 2017 by DBear typo oops

Judging from your info on Utah though, it seems there's still lots of hope for those waiting... !!

Although it is strange that I didn't hear from them yet.
2ManyTacos Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 Rejected by U Washington via email today. This one really stings because I was such a good fit for UW and it had been my top choice school for years. If you're a UW applicant who still hasn't heard anything, then you have probably been accepted or waitlisted.
ejpril88 Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 @2ManyTacos I'm so sorry to hear that! Are you still waiting to hear from other schools?
2ManyTacos Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 @ejpril88 The UCSB Grad Open House is later this week, with admissions offers to the program to be made after that event. Also still waiting on U Maryland.
chichilai Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 @2ManyTacos hug = = I got rejected as well. Right after I woke up from a nap

IcedCapp Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 Accepted by UIUC and rejected by UPenn, two more to go! It seems that I have to wait longer for hearing from universities in Canada. Probably have to wait until mid-March. I've applied more than one discipline.
DBear Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 @IcedCapp Congratulations! For UIUC, is it the Comm dept or ICR? If you get into the schools in Canada, do you think you'd rather go there or UIUC?
heyDW Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 Husband got into Bowling Green but no word on funding yet......lol DBear 1
ejpril88 Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 Congrats @heyDW ! I had to wait 5 days between my acceptance email and funding details from UC Davis, I was 100℅ sure they will not offer full funding but they did I wish the same to your husband! heyDW 1
DBear Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 @heyDW WooT! good news! It took them a while to get me funding info, like a week - but still, it's good news! heyDW 1
chichilai Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 (edited) it's okay. they sent out another email yesterday stating that I was in the final round of 37 people. A pretty sincere and encouraging email. So I'm not that sad. Still waiting for more schools. @DBear Edited February 23, 2017 by chichilai
Chasing_Shadows Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 Anyone else feel like their life is basically in "on hold" mode until the entire process is over and done with? All I do all day every day is obsessively refresh application portals and gmail, it feels like. Come on, UMass, put us out of our misery soon. Please? feyfatale 1
ejpril88 Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 @Nika.T I felt the same until I got my first response, which luckily was an acceptance notice. It's so frustrating to wait!
