Hi all! First time posting here. I had a brief phone call with my POI at USC on Thursday morning, and since then, three people have gotten in-person interviews & I haven't heard anything.

I don't feel like I did very well in the phone interview, so I'm kind of assuming I'm out of the running, but would one of the USC interviewees mind messaging me details of their invite (it looks like it came from a program coordinator)? I'd be super grateful! Thank you!

I know this has been asked a million times, so I hope it isn't too annoying, but could those of you who have an interview at FSU please email me the name of your POI? It's one of my top two, but I realize it is a long shot! I haven't heard anything from any of my schools yet. I just submitted my last four apps on Thursday. Congrats on the interviews, everyone!

My POI at USC just said all interview offers have been extended. There's only 3-4 PIs actually taking students this year so chanced are pretty slim unless you applied to work with them:

I just heard from a school that is one of my top choices that I wasn't expecting to hear from for about another month (just from previous years invitations)

 

i was told told that I am a top candidate and that I am a high alternate choice for interview day. Is there really any chance that someone won't go for an interview? I don't have high hopes.

Actually, people decline interviews all the time. Usually due to scheduling conflicts.

I found out I was an alternate at one of my tops too. Trying to stay positive but I would kill to interview with my POI. I hope we both get lucky enough to get interviews!

Bummer! Thanks for letting us know, though. I wish places would send out rejections closer to the same time as the interview offers (although perhaps they want to make sure people accept?). Nothing worse than holding out hope only to be let down later.

Details from a PI at University of Louisville: Official invitations will not be extended until January but the interview days are 1/26 or 1/27.

Can anyone explain the application review process? I am applying to Canadian schools and notice someone posted about getting an interview at one of the universities I applied to. Last year, it appears that while some applicants heard about interviews in early Jan, some heard as late as mid-Feb.

Does each prof review files on their own time? And if so, do they contact applicants they're most interested in first? Any info would be appreciated.

The process really does vary by school. At some, it's the individual POIs who choose who they want to interview. At others, it's decided by the clinical committee.
