Yeah, same here. I see you also applied to four universities. I just wanted to make sure they were a good fit and hoped that meant I'd get in in at least one of them.... I haven't heard anything back, so I'm still hoping for the same thing, but I'm so anxious with the whole process that I doubt myself and my choice to only apply to four places.
I recommend reading Judith Butler, bell hooks, Sherry Ortner, Audre Lorde... I recommend looking into intersectional feminsim (i.e., the intersections of systematic oppressions like sex, gender, race, class, ability, sexuality, etc...)
I'm curious to find out how people choose their top choice and what their priorities are. Please share! You don't have to say the name of the university, just share why.
I'll start:
My top choice is my top choice because it has professors doing research that could really support my proposed project. One of the professors does research in my region of interest in one of my topics of interest, and that's really rare! I also like the location a lot and the fact that every student gets 5-year funding.
Yeah, I agree. I've read mostly that it's not common in the STEM field but it is in others. I don't really know. Ultimately, it might come down to the POI's personality and preferences, and those are kinda hard to know.
Have you checked the results search? If no one in the department for your major has made any updates then I'd say it's safe to assume there's no update yet (even though grad cafe represents a small sample of applicants).
Also, as far as I know, they're not required to give you feedback. If things don't go well then you could ask for feedback then, but let's hope everything goes well!
Loric, I don't think that's what Eigen meant when they said "don't get too overeager." It sounds like you're just trying to clarify stuff and not pretty much sound needy and like you've been accepted like the other applicant did.
