  1. I can't upvote this enough. My life for the past year and counting.
  2. AMAZING program, congrats!! If you're not there already, enjoy Houston! Wonderful city with so much to do (and great ethnic food!)
  3. I keep on going to the websites of my two top choice programs and just rereading the information over and over again because I am just SO DARN ANTSY. Does anyone else do this? It's not just me, right?!
  4. Look up Rasolli career pumps on Groupon! The ones with low heels are SUPER comfy while also looking very professional.
  5. I was just at the interview for my dream school yesterday and wish I had had the confidence to gush more about how they were my first choice. I had a bad start to the day (overslept all three of my alarms, arrived late due to my Uber getting lost, the waiting room for candidates was WAY too small so we were all sitting bunched together and my super introvert self NEEDED HER SPACE, etc.)... so yeah, that just threw me off. It's only been one day (and it's Saturday), but damn I JUST WANNA KNOWWWW. If I get an offer from this program I'm withdrawing from all other interviews and immediately declining the other offers I'm holding. The fit is just too perfect but I don't know if the faculty see it that way haha...
  6. A lot of folks at the masters level are career changers, so they'll ask you a lot about why you're choosing this career. You might also get questions about past experiences, your viewpoints on mental health and treatment, what kind of populations you want to work with, etc. They might also ask you why masters instead of PhD, so have a good answer to that. UHCL is a very well respected school at the masters level, so good luck!
  7. Not that I've seen. Their interview is on Monday so I'm just assuming I'm rejected lol.
  8. Whew. Just got out of a stressful interview. I didn't get to speak to my POI in-depth (we interviewed with 3 profs at a time, with one prof leading the interview - which was not my POI). I feel like I floundered around the entire time. Even worse, they let us know early on in the day that their class size is going to be 3-4 people. There were at least 20 of us in the room. So much pressure! ? It almost felt worse to know that I had made this THIS FAR and could very possibly miss out on an acceptance by a TINY margin. Ugh.
  9. The latest is also that she's a troll who is a freshman in undergrad. The scariest thing is I can't tell if it's one person who posted all of those things... or if someone legitimately posted the first response and then other trolls are pretending to be her lol. Drama on GC, the highlight of my Friday.
  10. Yeah, the most recent posts where they're just spewing vitriol and narcissism seems super trollish to me. That said, I too am a huge drama sponge and can't help getting caught up in refreshing and reading it haha.
  11. For a bunch of future mental health professionals, people can sure be nasty when it's under the guise of anonymity. Who else tried to Google who TM is? ?
  12. School: Springfield College Type: Counseling PsyD Date of invite: 02/15/2019 Type of invite: mass email Interview date(s): 3/1 (in person) or 2/22 (Skype)
  13. This. Also, a lot of programs are still finalizing funding and/or make offers of admission separate from funding packages. I'm holding 3 offers right now but that's because none of them have gotten back to me about funding yet. Chill out, guys. If you're going to get off the wait list, it will happen whether it's today or in a month.
  14. Never mind. Just got an email from Springfield. I guess enough whining does work!
  15. This happened to me before (not this cycle, but for masters programs in another career path). And of course, it has happened to me more times than I can count for internships and jobs. Those hiring - whether they're PIs or HR managers - need to go through the steps for appearance and legality's sake, but most often they already have a candidate in mind. It really sucks to get your hopes up about an opportunity only to know that you were shot in the foot before you ever walked in the room. At this point I'm just trying to be authentic, not overprepare (actually I don't prepare at all lmao), and take each interview as a practice opportunity. Once we're in, we're going to be interviewing for practica/externships, and then predoc internships, and then postdocs, and then jobs... the more practice we get interacting with other psych professionals in an interview setting, the better off we'll be. I've noticed that my confidence levels has definitely grown as I've gone through my interviews. My first interview was a hot mess (still got accepted so you never know) but my most recent one felt great.
  16. Can't help you with your question, but if you like psychodynamic work you should definitely look at Adelphi and Yeshiva too! I hear CCNY really emphasizes research, but cannot confirm.
  17. Depends on context. Day after an interview? Nah. 3 weeks after an interview? Sure.
  18. Welp. Rutgers interview is next Monday sooooo I'm gonna assume I didn't get selected lol. Sigh.
  19. Check this job board for postbacc research job listings! http://post-bacc-ra-opportunities.1115000.n5.nabble.com/
  20. Honestly I just wanted schools to embrace PSYCAS. The med schools have a centralized system, so does dentistry and podiatry and pharmacy and veterinary and physical therapy and public health.... I could go on for ages. But noooo, we still have to go through this horrid process. I was so thankful for my schools that DID do PSYCAS because it meant I only needed to send my transcripts ONCE instead of 15 times (that shit is pricey).
  21. Welp. Drexel finally put my irrational hopes to rest xD Good luck to those who interviewed!
