  1. No shame in that! My boyfriend graduated last year, he's spent 7ish years getting his degree. That's due to him joining the navy first, then changing majors/schools. He's now waiting on me so he can apply to jobs. We don't want to do long distance. He tried grad school but felt like it wasn't for him and felt tricked by his advisor.
  2. Exactly! Plus I'm not sure if it will matter since you are applying online but everyone I talked too seem really friendly/nice. Boulder was the chilliest in their response so I'm not too hopeful for that school.
  3. No idea if it makes you looked scatter or not but I don't think it would hurt you! I applied to Texas Tech so we can worry about that together ha. Plus they have a really long deadline, mine was June. But of course I turned in my application weeks ago. Its weird thinking how long I've been in school. I've spent 17 years of my life in school from 1st grade to a senior in college.
  4. I have zero debt so I'm willing to take out loans. Only small ones though. I really want to get accepted. I won't be crushed but I'll be really sad.
  5. Yeah the university of kansas was actually a person. They were super nice though. Still bummed ha. @kingslayer I know what you mean about taking a lot of classes. I'm taking 15 but they are all super time consuming and I agree with the sleeping part! But I would want to wake up to a dog ha
  6. Another day goes by without news. Congrats with all the good news though! I'm feeling like Adele gets me right now haha
  7. Tbh I feel like full funding would make me choose a "lesser rank" school. Then again, I'm stopping right after my masters to get a job so I'm not looking into the future. But I think fit and funding is the best way to decide on a program. I'm also applying for Fall 2016 so I'm not an expert at all. But congrats on the funding and acceptances!
  8. My suggestion is just to avoid that topic. Senior year is a stressful time because everyone is asking everyone what they plan to do.
  9. I feel the same way about that university of kansas post. There were no details either. But I'm a paranoid person, thats why I refuse to watch final destination movies. I wouldn't be able to leave the house afterwards haha
  10. Same here I guess! I would be the first to post for IUPUI, and Texas Tech for museum studies programs. Well I hope to be the first acceptance post.
  11. Yeah I found it very odd how someone can think that low of a program yet they still applied? To me these people are the worst ha. So far no one has been insufferable in museum studies related posts. Then again there have been only 4-6 haha
  12. Has anyone seen the nyu post with media and culture? Talk about misplaced aggression.
  13. Yeah I'm hoping that I won't have to do a second cycle so it will just be an oh well situation. Why do grad schools mail their decisions?! Its way too much pressure since I won't know if a small letter is good or bad.
  14. I think this is like Marie Antoinette complaining about her makeup to the angry peasants. Its like i hate you because I'm jealous haha. But thats pretty awesome!
  15. Yeah I don't feel well and I have tests coming up. So of course I'm refreshing my email, results forum, and watching shows instead ha.
  16. Yeah every other program I applied too does offer funding so I hope I get in! Oregon is a terminal degree so I understand why theres little to no funding. I'm stopping at a masters, I can't see myself doing a PhD. I'm going to grad school so I can get a job in museums or at least this will help me get a job. I have no debt from undergrad so I won't mind taking out very small loans but not a years salary!
  17. That is really lame! I had a mini rant against colorado since they were like "oh we prefer our applicants to have several years of experience" Uhhh I've had internships and jobs with museums for two years now! That's why I'm going to grad school so I can get the job I want. Because without this masters I'll be stuck making 9-10 an hour.
  18. I actually put more effort into looking for grad school than I ever did for undergrad! It was always funny/awkard asking for ideas from my advisor. She would always ask me if I was sure if I didn't want to study geology. I'm kinda hoping her letter will give me a boost since she used to teach there even if it was in a different department.
  19. Yeah I was kinda using the internet as my main guide for programs, and Oregon was my "I will enjoy this a lot" choice. But I'm now starting to realize that this university will be not afforable, which is kinda sad. It looks amazing but I can't see myself being 51,000 in debt for a career that won''t make a lot of money.
  20. Too bad grad schools can't be like undergrad sometimes and see "potential" haha
  21. Yeah I can understand that! I was kinda on my own when looking into programs since my professors only knew about geology programs. I saw several universities but I decided that the cost would be too high. I just wish I used my application fee on arizona instead of north carolina since greensboro is such an awful fit.
  22. Glad I'm not alone! That sucks, wish graduate schools wouldn't be so nerve wrecking. Tbh, a gap year wouldn't be ideal but I wouldn't mind if its just me. But my boyfriend is moving with me so his life is affected too. I got really good vibes from kansas, texas, and indiana so I hope those work out.
  23. Does anyone else kick themselves for not applying to a program? I just found Arizona State's program and they have a faculty member who does exactly what I want and the offer funding. I didn't know about their program until now and their deadline was Dec 1st. Booo. Hopefully I won't need it and I'll get funded offers this round. If Not I guess there is always next year!
  24. Good luck! I hope it goes well for you.
  25. I'm kinda in the same boat as you. I'm a domestic applicant but I'm also waiting to hear back from schools/funding. I got accepted into 1 school but they don't provide funding the first year and they can't guarantee funding for the second year. I'm going for my masters and if I went there I could be 51,000 in debt. So I'm almost positive I won't be going and I'm freaking out as well. I would think it would take longer for you to get news so I wouldn't lose hope just yet!
