Need Coffee in an IV

Sounds like a lot like my dad! He has accused me for lacking empathy and loyalty to my family a lot. It was pretty awful but it's manageable now since I live 6 hours away and I've gone to therapy. I can't change him, but I can change my actions towards him. Now I just don't upset anymore and go on with my business.

Honestly? I wouldn't go to this program and I also applied to the University of Washington. The only way I would go to a program that doesn't offer funding if it was a low cost of living situation. Tuition and living in Seattle will be super expensive. But it's up to you, the risk may be worth it.

My dad just called me 6 times within a min. He is emotionally exhausting.

@sjoh197 My undergrad is geology and I would have to say most people try industry out before grad school in my department. We also have had very few people go into gas/oil industry. Most of my friends/peers work at environmental/engineering firms. I would have to say only 1 of my friends is applying to grad schools with me.

My boyfriend went out to get cookies, he is awesome! He's been through this process so he can relate! He decided grad school wasn't for him. So I've been exposed to pros and cons about this process.

I got an email from IUPUI and it was just a newsletter. that was mean.....

I've applied to schools with jan 15th deadlines, So I'll be waiting for awhile! It sucks though ha. I've applied to masters with either nonprofit or museum studies focus.

I liked this one "At least I won't have to deal with football traffic and the judgment stare of touchdown Jesus." Its even funnier when you compare it to the bitter person below them!

I REALLY want to hear from Kansas and IUPUI. They are my top picks and waiting for them to response is super blah. I'm snowed in as well but I like the snow so that doesn't bother me.

I'm so happy my programs don't require it either! It took me 7 years of speech therapy to be able to speak english correctly. I don't have much hope for other languages ha. I'm concerned about defending my thesis and mispronouncing words.....

Yeah that's what I'm thinking too. I wish I didn't have to suffer through physics but at least this will be the last time! My GIS class won't be hard just time consuming and my other two classes are going to be alright. Must fight senioritis!

Well at least there's two of us! At least I have my last semester and building a new museum to distract me! Plus I'm growing out by hair so that's another thing I can be obsessive about. I feel like I'm a combination of Larry David and Paris Geller.

Congrats @Pink Fuzzy Bunny! And I hope everyone is enjoying the snow. University was cancelled so I've been kinda studying/being in sweats all day. Also checking my email constantly. But its only been a week so I'm going to be waiting for awhile. Did anyone else have a Jan 15th deadline?

I'm trying to create work schedule but the people I work with aren't helping me out at all! I'm this weird combination of fellow employee/boss. My mentor is the official boss and I'm right below him. But I can't really fire anyone so I don't have much "power". I made a mistake thinking we work 20 hours but its only 12 so I had to redo the schedule. Then one of the people is actually a volunteer so I'm waiting to hear back when she wants to work. Then the assistant keeps asking me why I put her in certain slots and the workshop manager hasn't answered any of my emails. Its just the beginning of the semester and I feel very frazzled.

Ha I sound like a robot compared to everyone else! I'm going to grad school because that is how I'm going to be competitive for the jobs I want. I want to work in science museums as program coordinator. I want to get kids and the general public interested in science! I don't want all this research to be locked up in the "ivory tower" of academia. Plus this will give me the chances to volunteer for excavations which are super fun! I also want a job that is very close to 9-5. My parents didn't and I never saw them growing up. I love my work but honestly I love my personal life more.

So my team lost and its officially the spring semester. Grad schools pleeaaasseee put me out of my misery. On the bright side, my boyfriend is coming with me wherever I go!

Yeah all my deadlines except texas were today so i'm going to be waiting for awhile!

Today is the deadline for all my schools except Texas Tech. At least I'm going to the seahawks vs panthers game tomorrow! That will distract me for at least a couple of hours ha.

I looked up past results and it seems like decisions start to go out in mid-February. I'm hoping they do that this year as well!

Yeah no one has mentioned any of my programs, not sure if this is good or bad...
