  1. Most universities have a soft deadline of April 15th to send out initial acceptances. Really people can get accepted off of the waitlist at any time. One professor told us junior year about accepting someone one week before classes started off of the waitlist. There are also schools out there that don't even send out formal rejections. I think really this depends on the school. For example, I'm in California and this school that I got into is in the midwest. I also have a high GPA and have never contacted them, not even after I received the waitlist email. I think that some schools probably go by this, especially closer to May. It has also been speculated that some schools choose candidates off of the waitlist that are similar to the person that they are "replacing" (based off of stats, experiences and interests). I believe if the school won't tell you, you'll probably never know.
  2. I always just assumed this means that they have a ranking list, but just don't disclose the information.
  3. I just got a letter in the mail today saying I was accepted off the waitlist at SEMO. So I guess it does happen this early! It was an unranked list, with them originally only accepting 15 people. I still have the April 15th deadline to accept though.
  4. If you do, could you update? It looks like one student was told their application wasn't even looked at yet, which makes me wonder if those that applied on the last day like myself were not even reviewed.
  5. I contacted CSDCAS and they said that there is no feature to show admission decisions. So I am thinking that either the person that posted the statement on the forum or Dr. Tsao meant to write the CSUF portal. Through there you can technically tell that you've gotten waitlisted by saying you want to accept or decline the waitlist option. If you try to click it and you don't have a waitlist offer, then it will tell you so. From this, I suppose I am rejected. I'm not quite sure if this is an accurate way of going about this though. Has anyone even gotten a waitlist offer from CSUF?
  6. I got an acceptance to U South Alabama via email! Does anyone know if they give out funding information before the April 15th deadline?
  7. Yeah I had heard about the Illinois budget problems and it does make me nervous to be honest. This is especially because i have to pay out of state tuition if I go with SIUE, but thanks for the assistanship link and information! It's good to know that we can apply to other departments as well.
  8. I think you are supposed to list your potential schools right away. You can delete them once you make your final decision. Also, I am also considered a dependent on my parent's taxes, but I was confused about whether I could still do this since we are considered independent on FASFA now that were going to graduate school. So I called FASFA and asked them, and they said I could still be used as a dependent and just put in "will not file". I was told I did not have to put in any of their tax information, but this may be because I didn't work last year, since my undergrad school paid tuition and living expenses for me.
  9. That is a really small undergrad class; mine has been close to 80 students! Also transgender voice and modification has been an interest in mine too. Thanks for the info! It's greatly appreciated.
  10. I mainly wanted to go to see the campus and get a look at the area as well. The website has been pretty informative, but I'm interested in learning about funding (if there is any) and if we have a say in placements for the externship opportunities. I may be commuting from St. Louis if my fiance can get a transfer there. Did you enjoy undergrad there? What are the professors like?
  11. I'm likely going to accept my offer from SIUE and really wish I could go to the open house, but can't make it as I live in California, my budget has been tight and I have a midterm that day. Could you let me know how it goes? I see that you've been accepted to several places; do you think you will be accepting this offer too?
  12. It's a really beautiful campus and I highly recommend you do visit. It's kind of a college town. It's known as a party school, although it isn't as bad, I would say don't live close by campus unless you want to be a part of that atmosphere. The night life is still very active. The downtown area is right next to the campus and has a lot of nice little shops, places to eat and bars. There's also a weekly farmers market. I'd say the best part of Chico is Bidwell Park. It that has a lot of trails and swimming holes that are beautiful and just nice to spend the day. Chico is a really bike friendly town. One thing though is that the crime is low, but the most common problem is bike theft so the joke is buy a cheap bike and expensive lock. I have never met anyone who has gotten their bike stolen, but if you choose to ride your bike to campus. Car parking is very rough. It's difficult to find a space unless you arrive early to campus. I would say overall Chico has a lot to offer and the rent isn't too terrible either. A lot of leases end in May/June, so I would look then.
  13. Yeah I've heard about that and have seen through the documents on the site shortly after applying. I hate that everything's up in the air really without anyone even getting on a waitlist. I was hoping that without interviews this year we would all get at least a more definitive response from them. CSUF was always a reach though with it's popularity. Was hoping someone that got a phone call had any additional information I didn't know.
  14. Hey, did anyone on here get an acceptance to CSU Fullerton yesterday? I just seen a couple on the results board. Can we assume if we didn't get a phone call that we were rejected?
  15. Chico State has a beautiful campus and of the two it's obviously cheaper. They have a clinic on campus; it's not as beautiful as UofP but you really do get a mix children and adult populations if you're interested in that. I've heard that you have to find your externships on your own, but the faculty is very helpful so I'm sure they can guide you. I know that it's hard and rare to get an externship in the medical setting. You have to apply for this position and do an interview, competing with several others (At least that's how it was two years ago). As far as teachers go, I know that the seniors this year have been flopped around a bit with sub faculty members that they weren't too pleased about. You get a mix of really stellar teachers and some not so stellar ones. At the end of the day though, the majority are helpful and understanding. Honestly, I would wait until you are closer to the deadline before you worry too much about which to choose from. You may still get accepted to more! Most acceptances come around this week and next. U of Pacific is an amazing school, but you're right it's very expensive. This is even if you factor in being able to start working earlier. I will say I didn't apply to Chico State and I know plenty of others that didn't. DM if you have any other questions!
