  1. Hi Everyone! If anyone is looking for a job related to the speech field in the Philadelphia/ Bucks County area check this link out! There are two positions available as both of us will be attending grad school in the fall. This is my current position and I absolutely love it and have gained valuable experience and professionalism. Let me know if you have additional questions! https://www1.apply2jobs.com/NHSonline/ProfExt/index.cfm?fuseaction=mExternal.showJob&RID=14170&CurrentPage=1
  2. I am speaking from personal experience but I can have a similar story to you. I graduated with my undergrad degree and had a 3.3 GPA. I decided that I needed something to set me apart when applying so that schools would not discount me for my GPA. I decided to take the first year off and got a job at a school for children with special needs. I then ended up taking a second year off and work as an SLPA for individuals with IDD. I also took this time to really prep for the GRE to obtain the highest scores I could, continued to volunteer/shadow SLPs, and thoroughly researched the schools I applied to. I applied this round for fall 2016 to 10 schools. So far I have been accepted to 2, waitlisted at 5. I truly feel that there is no better thing to do than to gain experience in areas of this field. It helped reaffirm my passion for speech, taught me valuable lessons, helped me make connections, allowed me to write a thought provoking SOP, and helped me to stand out. I am a much more mature person than I was fresh out of undergrad and I feel more prepared going into my master's degree with some real world experience under my belt! Hope this helps!
  3. Does anyone know if rejections or waitlists have been sent out yet? I haven't seen any on the admissions board so I was just curious!
  4. Nova Southeastern is rolling admissions so it depends when you submitted their application. I submitted mine in March for Fall 2016 on campus.I called NSU a few weeks ago and they told me my application was under review and that I wouldn't hear anything until June. She then said I would either receive an invitation to interview in the mail or a rejection email. So the woman said there is a chance I wouldn't get admitted until spring if the fall class fills up before I get the chance to interview etc. Hope this helps! I was a bit confused myself so I think it would be best for you to call them and get an update on your application status!
  5. I haven't heard back either. My guess is we are most likely on a waitlist of some sort and we will probably find out more once the deadline for the first round of acceptances passes.
  6. I live in PA and received a letter on Saturday notifying me I am on the waitlist.
  7. I haven't heard back from them either. Wondering if they only set out the first set of acceptances and are giving those people until April 15th before they send out more. The wait is killing me!
  8. Do you know average stats for either of these programs?!
  9. I'm still waiting to hear from them too! I believe there were some acceptances sent out a few weeks back that I saw on the results page. The wait is killing me. I feel like we're going to have to wait until April 15th when people make their decisions. ugh.
  10. Nova depends on when you applied. I called yesterday to get an update on my application. I submitted it in February and they said mine is currently under review and will probably be under review until april or june. She said that if my app is one that they select they will then contact me for an interview which will likely be in july. Since it is rolling admissions they will put you in whatever class they have open so even though I technically applied for Fall 2016, it may not be admitted until Winter or even Spring 2017.
  11. You're probably better off calling that's where I have had most luck! But they say it can take up to a year to process your application and get you in for a interview etc. It's a long time to wait but they have such a large applicant pool.
  12. Does anyone when Florida Atlantic University will be sending out their responses?!
  13. I also have an interview at Samford on the same day! I'm nervous but I'm excited! Have you heard anything about the interview?
  14. Hey everyone, As we all start hearing back from colleges regarding interviews and acceptances, I was curious how everyone is planning to pay for their graduate school, housing, books, etc. I don't have any debt from my undergraduate study but I will be on my own for graduate school for the most part. I don't have any clue about loans or that sort of thing and I know there are a few different loan options available (government, private). If anyone has any information, pointers, or helpful tips I would be so grateful! Thanks in advance! Good luck to all!
  15. Is anyone able to tell me specifically what the two essay prompts are for Nova Southeastern University? I have called and emailed multiple people from NSU about this and no one has been able to give me an answer. Why they aren't able to put the essay prompts under the supplemental portion of the application is beyond me! Sorry about the frustration in my post lol I'm sure we all know how much stress these applications bring us! Thanks in Advance!
  16. I went on today to begin applying for Nova's SLP program for fall 2016 and saw that it was closed. I thought the admissions were rolling? Is anyone able to shed some light on this? Thank you in advance.
