People applying to Ontario Teacher's Colleges... I have questions!
VKBun replied to VKBun's topic in Waiting it Out
Hey there! I replied to you on your thread "Applying to the OISE MT Program"! -
I wouldn't say you're out of the running yet. I believe they mostly look at your final year marks (although it wouldn't hurt to have a killer CGPA). I'd try to make sure your CGPA is as far above 3.0 by your final year, because it is in the end a graduate program and many grad programs like cutting off applications around 3.0. What are your grades actually like in science? That would be important to note. Ultimately, there are a lot of applications to the MT program and many are quite strong. As long as you have a B+ or so in Bio, I think you still have a chance for sure. Your experiences are pretty great! How many hours do you have in that high school classroom? Your TA is not a sufficient reference - you need a proper academic referee (a professor). The high school teacher is a great second reference! Your top priority, if you are serious about this application, is getting to know a professor in the next year, and then having them as your academic reference. OISE at U of T requires a professor familiar with you as a reference! I am only one person, however I did get accepted into OISE's MT program this year for I/S teachables English and History, and my husband got accepted at OISE as well for I/S for Mathematics and Physics. We at least have a small amount of experience with the program Please let me know if you have any other questions!

From what I know, they do have a great Faculty of Education. The only thing I'm not a huge fan of is their format for Practica - I believe you are only in-class in a placement one day per week, as opposed to being immersed in the school culture for a 4 week period, which is what OISE and some other colleges offer! -
Just call the graduate admissions office! They should be able to either tell you the admission decision, or advise you better!

Thank you as well!!! I'm not too concerned with job prospects, just because I wouldn't mind if I had to supply teach for awhile. It's good work, albeit different than having your own full-time classroom! In terms of age, I'm 22 and my husband (who is going for the MT I/S program) is 23! -

For mine it showed up right on the home page where it goes when you sign in. It previously said "no registration history", but then it changed to invited! Some people's statuses also say financially cancelled, which also means they are invited just that their offer is conditional on their completion of an in-progress degree!! -

I'm not sure if they would still consider you for anything else? I'd call them tomorrow at some point and ask for sure! I'm not sure thegradcafe.com is the best source Just call the MT admissions department! Out of curiosity, what was your application like? Like GPA/experiences? -

Hey! I called and asked about that because my husband's status said that too - it basically means that your offer is conditional, because your degree(s) are still in progress! But it still means you are accepted! -

They have done their first round of admissions I believe! A whole bunch of us were notified around March 1st that our application status had changed through an email and on ROSI! -

It means you have been accepted for J/I, but not I/S -
Canadian Universities MSW. The waiting game 2016 admissions
VKBun replied to MSW&MD's topic in Social Workers Forum
Are you sure it's 100%?? I heard that basically the invited status needs to be confirmed by the Registrar's office before admissions are mailed out?? Maybe I'm joyfully wrong -
Absolutely! One of my undergraduate professors told me that in Canada, U of T is the best place to get a Master's degree simply for the resources and support - it is unparalleled!

Yep! I actually did a double major in my teachable subjects and graduated with first class honours - while I don't think it's necessary, I don't think it hurts an application!!! -
ahhh understood. U of T does have one of the best (in my opinion the best) faculties of education though, so for me my choice is still 100% made!
