  1. Lol sorry if this got asked before, but does anyone know how we are supposed to accept this award? Which email do we send to and what are we exactly supposed to say in the email lol?
  2. Out of curiosity, just wondering, those that were lucky enough to get the CGS-D, what were your scores? ☺️
  3. Hi Everyone...I just got my results and was lucky enough to receive a CGS-D SSHRC...I'm sharing more details about my experience in case it's of help to you all ❤️ I'm a direct applicant (Year 1 / Ontario / Committee 4)...I got my username and password yesterday around 1PM EST, in that email it said I will get an email when my results are posted...this morning at 11AM I logged into extranet and saw my results (even though I didn't get an email that my results were posted). When I opened it, I saw that I had been successful. I just wanted to say to you all, I can relate to the rollercoaster everyone is feeling right now...regardless of what happens with the outcome of this result, all your research is so so important...SSHRC as an institution is another western meritocratic institution which tends to privilege some CV elements over others...and so to all of us who are receiving this fellowship, let us celebrate but also reflect on this privilege, and for those of our peers who may not get as lucky, I just want to reach out and say your research is so important and it matters and it will go on to change lives regardless of this fellowship ❤️ Take good care everyone ❤️ Stay safe and wishing you the best!
  4. For people who have been accepted to OISE's Master of Arts in Child Study & Education program, are any of you in the RIT (Research Intensive) Stream? Wondering whether only PBI (Practice Based Inquiry) has received acceptances yet or RIT candidates have also been accepted.
  5. Oh man Ok, thanks a lot for letting me know! Good luck with the rest of your applications!
  6. Ahh gotcha! Thanks a lot! The liason is on March break but the registrar's office told me acceptance letters are coming in mail soon so I'm going to cross my fingers. I was part of the RIT stream so I'm hoping maybe that's why I haven't heard back yet!! *Crossing all my gingers right now!*
  7. Hey guys! Quick question: did you guys get accepted in the Practice Based Inquiry field or the Research Intensive Field? I had an interview for the program too but I didn't get any emails from them so I'm getting a little anxious about the results (I did get accepted into the MT program, didn't hear back from MA though )
  8. Heyya! I'm not sure what their criteria is specifically for selecting students but from personal experience, I would say experience definitely matters a lot --they aren't a fan of tutoring/babysitting experiences too much since that experience is different from "classroom experience" (maybe mention that in your statement of intent? You can tell them you know working with students one to one is very different than working with them in the classroom but this experience still taught me [insert what it taught you about teaching etc.]). If possible, try getting a job as a camp counsellor this summer with the age group you plan to teach (they love the idea of paid work experience with children because it shows you were in a position of responsibility), or some more experience working in schools or with groups of high school kids (maybe at the local library? I'm not sure, but you can research this more). Also, do select references who can write STRONG letters for you --references matter quite a lot and they can sometimes be the deciding factor of your application. I wouldn't worry too much about the grades --higher averages help, but they aren't mandatory as long as you meet the cutoff. Personally, I just got accepted into the program and I had about 700 hours of child experience, plus an additional set of teaching experience at the university level, research experience and conference publications, and about a 3.7 cGPA but some of the other candidates I read about on this page were accepted with 10,000 hours of experience and a B+ average. I'm not sure if this helps but good luck!
  9. Hi! there! I would recommend get a professor to be your academic reference --TAs are students themselves so they prefer full time/permanent faculty to be references instead! Good luck!
  10. Also, did anyone hear back from any of the funding grants or get any scholarships? (i.e. SSHRC, OGS, Entrance Awards, etc.)
  11. Hey Guys! Does anyone know if we didn't get an email from the MA in Child Study & Education Program on Feb 26th, whether we still have a chance of getting accepted into the program? I got an interview on Feb 6 and I also got an email/acceptance offer from the MT program, but I have yet to hear back from the MA in Child Study and Education (as well as the MA in Developmental Psych & Education). Getting really anxious right now!!
