Hi, I am finishing my application for Brown and they asking for GPA scoring type, if its numerical or non, then since mine is numerical it then asks me what my gpa was, the scale of it and the passing score. I am confused about the passing score. Do they mean the lowest score u can get and still pass a class? I also wonder why they dont include a FAQ about this so I could see an example of what they meant. Any help would be appreciated.

That happened to me as well. I was finishing my masters and my grandmother who rasied me solo died abruptly. Definitely focus on self care and keep communication open with people as I isolated myself a lot trying to get through it stoically. I learned a valuable listen from that experience.

Funding at state schools seems to be the most up in the air ,private schools are where the guaranteed money at if you get in. Thats is one reason why I tried to do a mix of both as I wanted a place with stable funding, especially summer funding. Sadly because many governors that came in around 2010 were a group who just slashed funding for their state colleges.

I lurked last year it could be that or folks were over 2016 like most of us are. I know it does seem small but I did hear the private sector had increased a lot money wise for some industries so people could be wating before going to grad school or scared off by job prospects.

Yes, interviews are a real thing. They were not before but I assume with changing technology skype and phone interviews are part of the package for some programs. I know I read this thread last year to give myself a head up for this year and many people in the humanities and social sciences mentioned skype and/or phone interviews.

Congrats on your choices. I ended applying to Yale, Cornell and Berkeley( I was going to apply to ethnic studies but was pushed to apply to African American Studies lol) as well for the same programs. I did not apply to NYU (american studies) or UMD(american studies). Many of my choices as I came down to the wire surprised me as I did not attend to apply to certain programs or I had attended to apply to other programs. I visited Northernwestern this summer as I was hoping to apply but ended up not finding a good fit. If u go there it is such a pretty campus and in a nice area of Chicago.

Dont feel bad. While i have received a lot of email replies and had nice phone conversations with varying faculty. The ivy leagues schools has been very, very had to get an email reply from. Its interesting and I try not to take it personal. I try to just think of it as they are just that busy.

Greetings, I am applying to mostly interdisciplinary programs but I will also apply to a few cultural studies based Media programs. I am from the Southeastern US. I have a BA in Geography and I am getting a second BA in Liberal Studies Media/ or Communication based Cultural Studies: Wisconsin-Madison-Media and Culture Track, debating Pitts program( it looks nice but I dont know) and one or two more.. Still trying to get my school list lower.
