  1. I don't know what part of Chicago you'll be living in, but I highly recommend Ahimsa Yoga Studio. I go there twice a week and love it.
  2. I live in Chicago and I didn't have a chance to visit Denver yet, but I know guys from my work think that it's a perfect place. Can one survive without a car in Denver?
  3. Congrats to you, too! I wish we could all meet somewhere and celebrate.
  4. I started in this office in January and plan to quit in late June, so I don't think I will have any vacation time. I will use my 7 sick days, though. I've experienced the same lack of motivation a year ago while working as a journalist, knowing that I will soon be moving to US. And that was kind of my dream job, so no need to explain how demotivated I am to arrange huge piles of papers in a law office, which is what I'm doing right now
  5. I've been admitted to my dream school and will be moving from Chicago to California this summer. I have spent only one year in US (I am from Europe originally), so I don't have many friends here or exciting things to do while I'm waiting for school to start. That said, I am sooo bored and I would like to speed up the time somehow. I work in a boring law office and I don't care about the job at all. After I saw what my future is going to look like, I find it even harder to stay motivated at work. Does anyone else have this problem?
  6. So at the same time you're hoping that he will and won't get admitted. That must be hard
  7. Before I moved to US from Europe last year, my bucket list had only one line - spending time with friends and family. Now that I will be moving from Chicago to California, I made a list of things that I want to do in Chicago this summer. I hope I will have the chance to do everything I want.
  8. Hi, I will be moving to Davis this Fall to start Communication PhD. If there are any future UC Davis students looking for new friends, feel free to PM me.
  9. I was in the same situation, although I was leaning towards my 1st choice from day one. After the visits I was 100% sure that it's the right choice. My advice is - visit both schools and listen to your gut. Good luck!

P.S. Or if anyone else is moving to Davis at the end of summer and wants to meet, pm me please

Hi guys, another future UC Davis student here I visited this wonderful town a month ago and can't wait to move there! Anyone else starting their Communication PhD program in Davis this Fall?
  12. @2ManyTacos I'm so sorry to hear that! What impression did you have after the visit to UCSB? I got rejected from them long time ago but after visiting Santa Barbara (I just saw the campus from outside) I realized it's better that way because my husband wouldn't be able to find a job there.
  13. I feel the same I'm just wondering what they are thinking, I mean all the visits are going to be over and people will already make their decisions before they even respond. @Nika.T hahaha forgive me for laughing but that is so weird!
  14. I'm still waiting for UIC but at this point I'm not sure I care anymore.
  15. Anyone going to the Welcome Weekend today?
  16. @Nika.T omg May! That's too long Btw I love that cricket expression, never heard it before
  17. I agree, but it can also be frustrating to think "oh, I was so close but didn't make it"
  18. @Nika.T I felt the same until I got my first response, which luckily was an acceptance notice. It's so frustrating to wait!
  19. Congrats @heyDW ! I had to wait 5 days between my acceptance email and funding details from UC Davis, I was 100℅ sure they will not offer full funding but they did I wish the same to your husband!
  20. @2ManyTacos I'm so sorry to hear that! Are you still waiting to hear from other schools?
  21. One more for me too. But I don't care much, since I will turn down the offer anyway. Although it is strange that I didn't hear from them yet.
  22. The Welcome Weekend is this weekend and I will definitely go. Thanks!
  23. I moved to US 11 months ago and been living in Chicago ever since. I love that big town feel, always something happening, so I'm afraid how would I fit in of I move to Purdue. Than again, all college towns are pretty much the same.
