  1. I heard directly from my POI via email for York. I'm not sure if MyFile updated or not!
  2. I'm sorry to hear that! true that it is good to know sooner rather than later. The first time I applied, I didn't hear back from a few schools until July with official rejections!! Best of luck with your other applications!
  3. Rumour is that UOttawa is super behind on all of their applications because of some sort of technical glitches or errors ! :S
  4. Western sent out its official acceptances following the interview day just over a month ago. If you haven't heard anything at all, I would recommend that you get in touch with the department. However, from my knowledge, if you were not invited to the interview day, it is likely indicative that you will not receive acceptance. Sorry!
  5. Yeah their website is fancy looking but terrible for information. From my impression, it is fully funded somewhere between $21-24k a year, but that's as far as I got in talking to faculty.
  6. If anyone is currently having a difficult time making a decision about which school is best for them... please PM me. I'm going crazy over here making pros and cons lists...
  7. That makes a lot of sense if she has a good relationship with them and trusts their judgment! Tricky though if you're not able to contact them.. maybe give them a phone call and note that it's urgent! Hopefully they get back to you
  8. I'm not sure if you are referring to a specific school, but almost all of the schools that I applied to needed 3 references right from the beginning. But no one ever asked me for additional references beyond what they stated in the guidelines... Guelph did allow you to submit as many references as you wanted though!
  9. I received a follow up from the coordinator last night with the solid date, and a schedule for the day. Hopefully you hear from her soon! I'm sure she is just swamped with scheduling everyone ! Hope to see you there!
  10. School: George Mason UniversityArea/Degree: Clinical Psychology PhDRationalization: I'm really not sure how to rationalize it as my GRE was quite high, I have a few pubs, great references, and tons of volunteer experience in the field. Maybe thinking it has something to do with them only being able to take a certain # of International Students.Comment: No official rejection yet, but no interview (and a batch went out the first week of Jan). This is also my second time applying to clinical programs (1st time was 2 years ago before my MA). Coping tactics: Trying to refocus on the schools I DID interview for, and reframe it as "Hey, if they didn't like what they saw, then I wouldn't be a good fit there anyway!". Tough to process at first, but it will all work out! I have been through the devastation of not being accepted anywhere during the first time I applied to Clinical programs a few years ago. This thread is AMAZING because it happens to all of us, and the important thing is to recognize it and keep focused on where you want to be. Good things will happen , even if it's not the direct path that you pictured!
  11. Not sure if someone responded re: Western - but individual POIs have been emailing the shortlist of applicants to inform them about the interview day on February 3rd. I know that emails have been going out at different times based on the supervisor, but likely that most will be out by the end of today.
  12. Thanks for the heads up! That is very good to know, and also hopeful
  13. You guys rock. Still refreshing my email every 45 seconds hoping for emails from York and Guelph... they really do like to create last minute suspense with interviews being next week. Good luck all!
  14. It sounds like each school does it a bit differently. From speaking with some POIs, it seems like the "Clinical Decision Committee" holds most of the weight in the decision, while the POI gets to still provide their input into whether they would like to take on the student. (In contrast with an experimental program, where the decision is almost entirely in the hands of the POI for accepting students - also based on funding).
  15. That is awesome! Don't be ashamed... I did my own research of which professor I could slyly talk to while at that conference... felt a bit creepy but also slightly like a spy, so essentially just pretty cool. I'm curious who your POI is! Message me? (Maybe we are waiting on the same person!)
  16. I would say keep talking to schools and professors, and see what their policies on GRE scores are. I know of a few Canadian schools where if you have a strong application otherwise, and a really good fit with a supervisor, your supervisor can choose to waive the GRE scores entirely (typically in non-clinical programs). But even in other cases, I have received interviews with similar GRE scores - so again, you can still hold out hope for a good school, regardless of what some of these people have been saying. Do some digging, and feel out what is best for you. There is still hope, and you will find somewhere that is a good fit for you ! And if anything, try looking into schools that don't require the GRE, as a back up (ie. Experimental programs in Canada, or Clinical @ University of Ottawa, are a few examples).
  17. I can tell you that it really varies from school to school. I am in the same boat with writing the GRE twice, and still having pretty low quant percentiles, but high analytical writing. Some schools have very strict cutoffs for their applications (ie. above 70th or 80th percentile on every section), while others are more lenient. For example, George Mason said they were looking for scores above the 50th percentile, but that excellence in other areas could make up for lower scores in any areas. I know it's tricky when you don't want to waste your money on the applications if your scores are going to be thrown away because of a cutoff... so definitely good to get in touch with the schools to see their views on the GRE, and how they take them into account during the application process. You may find that some require them simply as a "hoop to jump through", while others will require higher scores in order to be competitive. With sending both scores, I know that some professors also like looking at the progress that you have made in rewriting the test as well, so that's often a good option! Hopefully I could be of some help! Good luck with your applications
