  1. I don't know how you guys do it to attend post-secondary schools in the US. I would never be able to afford those amounts, ever.
  2. When will we know if we got the scholarship or not? (I'm sure I won't get it by the way.)
  3. I was accepted at all three universities I've applied to! I will be attending McGill next fall.
  4. Has anyone tried those to work on their master's thesis? Is it worth it? I am considering it because I live with 5 other people, libraries are often crowded and cafes too noisy...
  5. I was accepted to all the universities I've applied to! Will be attending McGill.
  6. University of Montreal and University of Quebec in Montreal. Thank you!
  7. Got accepted in the MSW at two universities. I am just waiting for the last one for an answer.
  8. Yeah, I know it's funny, but I meant that my studies are entirely funded by me or the scholarships I am able to get ever year.
  9. Since I was a teenager, I've been told that girls like me, who are ambitious will struggle a lot more to find a man. I am now 24 and have never been in a relationship. It's depressing at times.
  10. My CGPA was 3.6 at the time I applied. I have 77% average for my first year of full-time of study and a 90% average for my second year. Lots of research and community experience though. But I still feel like I have zero chance of getting this award. My grades are too "borderline"
  11. In your opinion, which university has the most radical/grassroots social work program in Canada? I heard that most programs are "clinical" and do not address much systemic oppression..
  12. I have no children, but I've always been very admirative of parents who decide to pursue post-secondary education. Good luck!
  13. Hello, I am considering moving out of my mom's place. I've never lived on my own. But I feel like I will not be able to do my MSW properly with four younger siblings in the same home + I feel like I need to learn how to become a real adult by having full responsability for 100% of my expenses (my mother was not paying much for me anyways, but it's definetly a good thing that she's paying for the rent, and the internet, and the heating and that kind of stuff). Also, I am guaranteed a research assistant job from this summer till the end of my MSW. I've also applied to multiple scholarships, I usually get one or two every year. I am considering moving out in the same city, in the university residences. Any advice for me because I make my final choice? Is it worth it? My biggest fear is not being able to manage a budget. Is it true, for Quebec residents, that you get more loans and bursaries when you're a graduate students? Thanks
  14. I applied to four different masters program for a total of 400$ CA (approx. 100$ CA per application). I applied to four universities because I was unsure where I wanted to do my MSW and also because I wasn't sure if I was going to be accepted in any program (although I have good grades, research experience and a good CV). I ended up giving up one application because I did not get the SSRHC scholarship at that specific university, I was deemed not eligible because of 0.3% missing for my grades for my second year of study full-time.
  15. Because I've been told that Columbia has one of the best social work programs in North America, I would've loved to attend, but I come from a low-income background so I do not believe I can afford it.

  17. Congrats on everyone who got accepted! I keep on checking the portal for UQAM and McGill. Still waiting for those!!
  18. I got a similar admission offer. "Recommended". I was surprised I got in because my CGPA was 3.64 and the last student that got admitted last year at a CGPA of 3.8. But I guess my CV, and letter of intent really helped me out. From my understanding, I am accepted, I haven't accepted the offer yet though because I am still waiting for two other universities to answer me.
  19. Yeah, it's the "deep thinker" aspect that I am really looking for.

    Dating

Hello, I feel like I am going to struggle to date non-academics. Anyone feeling this way?
  21. I have no idea. I just have to present my poster in front of a jury, answer a few questions and then they make the decision.
