Do you have time to work out as a graduate student? If yes, what does your training consist of?

I've got people in my field that have tattoes and they look amazing. I don't believe it doesn't make them "less" professional. But I guess my field is open to that sort of things too..(social work).

Template for Title page
Adelaide9216 replied to Adelaide9216's topic in Writing, Presenting and Publishing
The article is going to be a case study. I am working on the intro at the moment. What's the typical structure of a journal article that's based on a case study in the social sciences? I can't seem to find examples online. -

Hello, I have made myself a template. I'd need someone by private message to take a quick look at it. -
How to approach a professor by email
Adelaide9216 replied to Adelaide9216's question in Questions and Answers
How sad. I feel you, my last name literally means "Suffering" in French. But it is my last name. I've received so many negative comments from people, classmates and even teachers across the years because of it..but hopefully, it has never hindered me from getting a job opportunity. -

Adelaide9216 replied to kekology4's topic in Interdisciplinary Studies
I don't understnad why I got a negative note for this post. I actually asked this because I want to educate myself on feminist issues a lot more. I'm doing a graduate option in feminist studies next Fall.- 232 replies

How to approach a professor by email
Adelaide9216 replied to Adelaide9216's question in Questions and Answers
Thank you for the thoughtful advice! -
I was thinking of moving out as well (I attend McGill) but all across the board, I was told that graduate housing is not worth it, that it would be more profitable for you to just have a regular appartement in the city.

Hello, can you get a Vanier and Trudeau scholarship at the same time? How does that actually work out of curiosity?

Hello, this is maybe a stupid question, but how would you write a polite email to a university professor regardless of the topic? I realize as I am looking back at my undergraduate studies that I might have offended some professors by accident because my emails did not come across as polite enough. But truth to be told, When I first started as an undergrad, there is a language barrier for me and lack of knowlege of university culture + difference in francophone versus anglophone culture explains it but I don't know if they got that and I do not want to repeat the same mistake in the future. Apparently, lots lots of students do not know how to approach a professor by email and come across as impolite or too "friendly". Any thoughts or advice on this?

Yes, I am Canadian. I am a francophone, so I don't know if my written English is good enough to pursue graduate studies in the US (English is my second language and I know that my english grammar is not good). At my current university, I can hand in any graded paper or exam in French.

I also find that SW in comparison to other helping professions tends to have a more macro and social-political explanation to individual distress. SW tends to work and address injustice at multiple levels simultaneously for instance through advocacy and grass-roots social work. Where as psychology and counseling tends to have a more individualistic approach to addressing people's struggles. I guess it depends on your analysis of social problems and what you are more comfortable doing. I would say also that your sociology degree probably gives you that "macro" lens to social issues already.

Hello, I have begun to identify potential relevant websites and sources for my master's thesis, even if I start the program next Fall. I was wondering, there is so much information out there, at what point do you know when to stop looking for articles and sources?

I am not in a relationship. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Thanks for your message. I guess you are right, but waiting for all these years are starting to feel heavy on me.

Hello, yes I would be interested in seeing the answer you got.
