I emailed them asking when the waitlisted would hear. They said that we will definitely hear one way or another before the end of next week. I saw on the result page that someone got off the waitlist for med slp on the 17th though. ? -

Texas Resident Receiving In-State at Oklahoma SLP
BADASSALICE replied to Carly_mb's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Congrats on your acceptance!! I went to Oklahoma State for undergrad and we have a lot of Texas students there! While I am not completely sure, I have heard about the Texas resident in state tuition privilege, but only among undergrad students and possibly merit based. But don’t take it for what it’s worth, you should call the OSU registrar’s office! They would be happy to answer this question! There are also a lot of helpful info on their website on how to qualify for in state. In order to qualify for in state I think your intention to stay in oklahoma needs to not be school. The standard is actually rather vague and it is really up to the university to determine if you qualify or not (I had this convo with them many times lol) I hope you choose Oklahoma State as it is an absolutely wonderful program!- 2 replies

Indeed! There has always been a trend in this field to overlook research for some reason. Each year there are people coming out to tell others that top-ranked schools are overrated and even shame the people who pay high student-loans to attend these schools. I like to advocate for knowledge any chance I get!

Anyone still not heard from University of Maryland? Does that mean I’m either denied or waitlisted?

UTD Still Haven't Heard Back???

So I guess we are not officially waitlisted just being put on the back burner? -
Not saying I agree or disagree with your comments. But how can you make this statement if you did not go to a top-rated school? Also what is wrong with focusing on research? The material you learned in class came from research. All practice is informed by research. Without top-ranked research schools leading the field in EBP, other clinical programs with professors like yours would become clueless. Remember, you are going to graduate school, earning an academic degree. Not professional school and professional degree.

waitlisted - Should I follow up?
BADASSALICE replied to Stephj's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
You can certainly update your resume with them if you had more experiences after you had applied. There is also something called a “statement of continued interest” that you can submit to the admission committee or email to one of the professors in the committee. Here is how to: https://www.google.com/amp/s/blog.collegevine.com/deferred-or-waitlisted-tips-for-writing-a-letter-of-continued-interest/amp/ -
Accepted in MGH, SLP Fall 2019
BADASSALICE replied to gingerbreadhuman's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I did not get a scholarship offer either. Sadly in the past years merit based scholarship info was included in the acceptance email. It makes me feel better though only 1/3 of the people get scholarship -
Damn. That is very real. I’ll have to attend the open house to see if it’s really worth the price. Northwestern is my top choice as well. I feel like whether it’s worth it or not depends on what you want to do after graduating. If you plan to pursue a PhD and want to do research or work in academia in the future than a degree from NU does actually mean something. If being a school slp is your career goal than attending NU might not be the best idea. Just my opinion

Boston University Interviews
BADASSALICE replied to BioCook's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I had the interview today and it was very relaxed. Interview questions were not hard they just wanted to get to know you! Everyone was friendly and welcome. No need to stress too much about it! And you don’t need to bring anything!
